To answer your questions, yes, Mason gets the shutout. The shutout is Mason's. Mason has a shutout. Who has a shutout? Mason. Mason shuts out Detroit. If theres a shutout, its Mason's. Mason is a shutter outer. Mason shuts out teams. Shutout=Mason. Mason=Shutout.

So, for those of us who aren't seeing this, what were some of the nicknames? Other than "shutout" Mason.

Cleary is "Bear."

Lids is "Super Swede" or the "Perfect Human Being."

Then the usual...Mule, Sammy, Dats, Malts, Ozzie, Cheli, etc.

The point of the segment was that there really aren't any good nicknames anymore. They're just abbreviations of someone's name (Lids, Malts, Ozzie, Homer). Mule for Franzen obviously, Bear for Cleary, and Super Swede or The Perfect Human Being for Lidstrom were the only original ones.
