Guest Shoreline Report post Posted January 21, 2009 Anyone see this? Canucks were under a minute away from a shutout and lose in OT. Then as I was typing this up some hits after the game was over. Simply clutch by the Sharks.
Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 It sicken me... why did TSN have to show me that. *sigh* A one goal lead is fickle, however, even in Bobby's hands.

ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 (edited) Jeez, this Sharks team is something else. However they really seem to be a conceded, gloating, stuck-up bunch of players. After the loss, when Vancouver skaters were headed toward the locker room, many of the Sharks turned their heads to the Canucks and were mummering stuff toward the players. Probably talking lots of s*** to rub in the loss. No wonder the Canucks flipped out and started punching them. Says it all when you're interviewed and they say "we're the best team in league". Classy teams don't speak like that....especially with 0 cups on record. Edited January 21, 2009 by ShanahanMan

Classy teams don't speak like that....especially with 0 cups on record. That attitude and culture is the biggest difference between the Wings and the Sharks. The Sharks were the best team in the league after the All-Star break last year- they were the hottest team walking in to the playoffs. And they Sharked the playoffs. Right now they should be playing with a chip on their shoulders if they really want a Cup. As a Wings fan I gladly welcome my opponent's overconfidence. Let the Wings focus on playing better and not on being the reigning champs. That's one of Babcock's best qualities as a coach- he understands and drills into his players that the game you just played means jack s*** when it comes to winning the game next day. ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 I doubt that the Canucks that got involved were all that innoncent, either. I'm sure they weren't either, but the Sharks definitely initiated it. As I watched it, I clearly saw a good number of Sharks players turn their heads and start saying s*** to the Canucks players, skating to the locker room who already had their heads down after that terrible loss. It wasn't till they noticed this that they looked up and rushed em.

The Sharks were just celebrating after the Marleau goal and one of Canucks players simply shoved Clowe out of frustration on the way to the locker room. There was no trash talking by the Sharks. Never_Retire_Steve 35 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 The one guy who truly amazes me on that team is Joe Thornton. How about those two passes? WOW! Has anybody else noticed the difference in production his linemates get? Murray? Cheechoo? Setoguchi? And then when they don't play with him their numbers magically fall off? egroen 384 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 Thornton is really right up there with Malkin, Crosby and Ovechkin and really gets overlooked a lot (just like Datsyuk, who is also up there) -- I am going to be shocked if the Shark do not make it past the 2nd round this year... they really are a different team this year. Wings can still take them, though.

VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 Vancouver is really sucking it up lately, aren't they? Ah well. Wings need this ASG to get their stuff together. Hopefully they come out on a tear for the rest of the season and playoffs.

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 How are the sharks "overconfident" and how does playing with a chip on your shoulder mean that? They come to play every night. They are incredibly comparable to the Wings of last year AND how the Wings were playing last year. In fact, I would fashion a guess that they're BETTER than the Wings were last year, simply because they're bigger, yet are playing up to the same standard in almost every other way that the Wings were last year. All this "the Sharks will choke" talk sounds like a bunch of insecure Wings fans trying to comfort themselves now that we're confronted by a legitimate Western opponent. You don't think people were saying the same things about the Wings in '97 after the '95 and '96 debacles? If anything, the Sharks simply believe in themselves, which is a key ingredient in winning a cup. With the way the Wings have mailed it in on several occasions this year, I would be more inclined to call them overconfident than the Sharks.

RedWingedKitten 9 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 (edited) I'm going to go a little bit off topic if that's alright. (sue me) I am very glad we have Babcock as a coach. Last night it looked like Gretzky was having a seizure on every other play. When the Wings started to lose the game () Babcock stayed very cool and calm. It just make me feel confident. (abeit losing the game) And yes, the Sharkys are a good team. We should not over look them, and vice versa. If there is some odd chance they over look the defending champs we should consider ourselves lucky. [edit] Epic quote by Drake. If you were actually watching the game, you would realize that Luongo got angry at the officials for not blowing the whistle early enough because it resulted in him scrambling to get back up and Marleau scored. And then the Canucks got angry and went after one of our players and then it resulted in a scrum. Don't be hating.

It seems like the nhl thinks the country stops at the Mississippi. Whenever I watch any show or read any article related to hockey, they seem to forget there's a Sharks team. And even if there are people who mention the Sharks, don't you think they have a right to? And I'm sure plenty of people are getting sick of the Red Wings love in the media that continues as we speak. It's about time another team is being mentioned.
