TheOwl 77 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 (edited) http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20...yuk_nickla.html What the f***. Neither guy in any of the competitions? What is wrong with the NHL these days.... Both should just take the week completely off and stick it to the NHL. Edited January 21, 2009 by TheOwl
Jedi 1,865 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 With Datsyuk leaving the game early in the 3rd, my guess is you're going to see him skip the game entirely. Best not take any chances there, IMO.

I figure Pasha's too much of a gentleman to just come out and say he doesn't want to go. So, yeah, even if it's something he'd normally play through, I would prefer he stay home. It's an "honor" to just be nominated, yadda yadda.
Kira 451 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 Our unimpeachable source comes through! Remember he said that Pasha wasn't going to Montreal. Clever wee devil you are, my Pasha...go off and bask in the sun for a few days. And don't do anything stupid - no parasailing, no wakeboarding, and for God's sake, no getting attacked by sharks! Maybe the Wings should have Aaron Downey go on vacation with Pasha just to be sure. Jody Shelley could be anywhere. Edited January 21, 2009 by RWK23

06TJSport 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 Reading the article, it appears that Datsyuk turned down an offer to be in the breakaway competition.
elriqo28 2 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 I was thinking more along the lines of Claude Lemieux. i can't believe ******-nozzle lemieux is back....and now with our biggest competative rival...yet again. I hope McCarty can be healthy for any future meetings with the Sharks...I'd love another turtle episode!

Never_Retire_Steve 35 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 reading comprehension > you, well actually, most of the people that have posted in this thread Sorry, I should've elaborated on this.... I just get so pissed off whenever the league fails to market itself properly. There is such a great product that they have no clue how to market. The All-Star game is the perfect example of this... the game is missing about 35% of the players who SHOULD be in this game and consequently are missing out on a lot of the skills competition as well. It's not very hard to look around at the other sports and see how much they do. Look at the hype that is created by the Slam Dunk contest and baseball's All-Star game, people look forward to these events because they showcase the stars and their talents. The NHL All-Star game is a glorified shinny game that the league seems to make less and less interesting every year. Please do not insult my reading comprehension, it is firmly at a grade 9 level. Antilles328 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 Both Datsyuk and Lidstrom are "injured." Rather than adding Zetterberg or Hossa which would make every team still have a player, they add Marleau and Robidas. Can't say I'm mad that we are getting our rest but I find it laughable that the Stanley Cup winners have 0 representation in the all-star game. Link
Guest mindfly Report post Posted January 21, 2009 Totally right... no need to go to that s***, all all star games are BS... it's better to rest and get healthy
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 I ain't gonna complain. I usually only watch the skills competition and even that's been sanitized to near unwatchability in recent years.

hockeytown9321 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 Good thing Hank wasn't named, or his wrist injury from last year might've flared up. Good, now I don't have to worry all week about one of our players blowing out their ACL trying to stickhandle around orange cones.
