He probably just drew the short end of the stick in choices for opinion. Either that or he just wants a little evidence to make himself look good in front of Red Wings fans so that we can't fully accuse him of being a Red Wing hater for the time being while afterwards he goes back to saying Pavel Datsyuk scored because of the wind.

The NHL assertively used their big body presence! Ya Doc, we all know they blew off the allstar game... big deal! I love it! When I (used to) watch the highlights on the NHL network (so-called) I would hope to see a great replay of a Datsyukian deke only to see the only goal shown is one off of Homer's butt and the usual short shrift.

I saw the segment the original poster is talking about (it's on TSN.ca). He looked pretty irritated about Lidstrom's dedication to the league and status as a champion not being one of the criteria for giving him a pass. He kept interrupting Dreger, who had a somewhat moderated position of seeing why the league did it, but being disappointed about it. This didn't look like drawing straws.

The whole idea is ludicrous. Retreating defenders would be pushed backwards as well, thus nullifying the "advantage." I bet Zetterberg was mocking him. It was a great goal! Pierre gave him no credit for the play. Did the wind make the goalies eyes water too when Pav deked him?

How is Gary Bettman hate unjustified? Of all the commissioners in the history of professional sports, only one has lost an entire 1 1/2 seasons due to labor disputes. That's pitiful.

Is everything Gary Bettman's fault all the time? Of course not.

Again though, they make themselves easy targets, and more often than not fans will go way off the deep end with the easy targets, whether it is justified or not, logical or not.

It's not really hard to see that the suspensions are pretty silly. A 3-year old could've made this distinction in all likelihood. Am I shocked that McGuire made this distinction? No. Do I think he is a mindless idiot? Not really.
