Doggy 130 Report post Posted February 2, 2009 Bad news. I hope Bobby can get better. What a costly game for the Habs. By the way, Kovalev - what a dog.

On Eva's Quote on your signature.... If 9/11 didn't happen he woudln't have had a legit reason to go into Iraq, so allthough he probably still would want too, he couldn't. I don't think thats so crazy of a statement.
Jericho613 74 Report post Posted February 2, 2009 I'm a huge Lang fan, still have his Wings Jersey (they win everytime I wear it) so this is terrible news. I hope he gets better.

mjlegend 155 Report post Posted February 2, 2009 Best of luck to Bob Lang and all, but I wonder if this gives Mtl the wiggle room under the cap to get Vinny L. on the team.

Doggy 130 Report post Posted February 2, 2009 Best of luck to Bob Lang and all, but I wonder if this gives Mtl the wiggle room under the cap to get Vinny L. on the team. I haven't done the math to work it out but I doubt it. They have less than $1m space, Lang's cap hit is $4m and Lecavalier's is almost $7m. Besides, didn't Oren Koules come out and state that they weren't going to trade him?

Besides, didn't Oren Koules come out and state that they weren't going to trade him? I don't trust either head of the Kouleas/Barrie monster to tell the truth at any given time. They'd obviously be trading a decent roster forward (Kostopoulos?) and a decent roster defenceman (Gorges?) as well to make up the cap difference, plus a prospect (Maxwell?) and/or a few draft picks. This way, they don't have to give up a player they really like in a trade, like Lang or Markov if there are no other suitors for Vinny. If Lang's season is done, it might end up being the best thing to happen to Montreal's chances for Vinny, and I think Vinny >> Lang. And if they do get him, I wonder how hard Bob Gainey will push some players on Florida for a rental on Bouwmeester in this Montreal centennial season. Yzersyukstromberg 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2009 (edited) As much as I was glad to see him and his lazy approach to playing hockey leave Detroit, I would never wish such a painful and devastating injury on anyone. I hope he's able to make a recovery, even if not just for a return to hockey Edited February 2, 2009 by Yzersyukstromberg

Jersey Wing 1,521 Report post Posted February 2, 2009 (edited) I got to watch Lang just before the all-star break in New Jersey. I had to take a cell phone picture of him during a stoppage in play as my buddy who lives in Sault Ste. Marie and whom I used to go to Wings games with always cracked us up calling Lang 'Count Chocula'. I do hope he reccovers as quickly as possible Edited February 2, 2009 by Jersey Wing

russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted February 2, 2009 I think that this could be his career. He is a free agent at the end of the year and this injury puts him out for the rest of the season they think. and at the age of 38 I wonder if the probable year of rehab to get back to playing is worth it to him. Hope he makes it back. Horrible to see, best of luck to Bad Ass Bob.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted February 2, 2009 I met Lang once in Birmingham. Good guy, down to earth. Family man too. Too bad he went down, but let me just say this: Hudler > Lang The little guy says Czech mate to his former roomate.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted February 2, 2009 Whatever, Bob was a great Red Wing. Most of the time. Sometimes. In the playoffs. His game-tying goal against Calgary and San Jose was the stuff of legends. And no one should ever forget his falling-down deke to Vokoun after brushing off a Nashville defender. I hope he plays again. I will always hold a special place in my heart for everyone's favorite no-good bum, Robert Lang.

ComradeWasabi 109 Report post Posted February 2, 2009 I remember seeing his game-tying goal against San Jose. It took him about 12 seconds to wind up the wrister but it went right through Nabby. Now that he's out of Detroit and I don't have to hate him for being lazy, I like him, and I hope his career doesn't end over this.
