the first was terrbile as well. Sure chelios passed it right to them, but as your teams starting goaltender, you should know how to take the angle away from a player who is shooting from the outside. Both chris' sucked ass on that play.

It was a hard shot, above the left shoulder.

I'm not even much of an "Ozzie Lover" but if anyone honestly thinks we're better off going with someone like Conklin in the playoffs, then y'all deserve Legace again. Since he's done so much for us and all...and for the Blues...where's he now???

You've got to give Osgood every chance to get going because he's the best option.

2 Cups. Tons of playoff games.

It's like this: we will not win the playoffs with Conklin. We might not win with Osgood. We might win with Osgood. But you can't win every year. Even the best goalies, at least last time I checked, I suppose history could change and all, but yeah, the best goalies ever...I don't think they won the Cup every year, no? This is all just silly. A waste of an argument.

And again, Osgood played fine tonight. Last two games I have no complaints. I do not ***** about goalies letting in 1 goal they should've had. I give goalies one of those every game. The other goals were out of his hands and he played great otherwise. As all the broadcasters said, Osgood made some great saves and gave the Wings every reasonable chance to win.

Oh, look at that!

Osgood: player of the game.

Some of y'all are just plain stupid. Seriously. Grow up.

THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU.

wow, I completely disagree.

Ask any guy in that room if nothing changes between now and the end of the season who they'd rather have start for them. Take an anonymous vote even. You'll get all Osgood. I bet even Conklin would vote for Osgood!

Conklin doesn't even have a full playoff game to his name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even if Osgood blows it (and he certainly could) and you have to go with Conklin, you have to go with Osgood to start. Same went for Hasek last year. I thought Osgood was the better goalie all year and Hasek was washed up, but I couldn't argue with giving Hasek his chance to get going and starting him in the playoffs because when he's at his best, he's the best option. Now, his age I think ultimately was too much for him to overcome, you've still got to give him the chance. You're just idiotic to think otherwise.

Babcock is as non-committal as he can be without saying the Wings were worse than Ozzie tonight. Save that last five-hole softie goal, and we might (I said, might) have had a chance to win it.

I am not bashing Ozzie. He did stop some really amazing chances, and as someone else posted, kept it from being an embarrassing evening. The offense was snake-bit and hit a lot of iron, when they weren't being out hustled or out-officiated (pick a shift).

I am, however, seriously starting to wonder if a wicked witch put a spell on Ozzie which will not allow him to let in fewer than three goals. It's almost eerie.

it's pretty sad that a detroit goalie let in 3 goals and it actually lowered his goals against average. i think it's important to get ozzy on track, his experience could be crucial in the playoffs, but how do you get him on track. clearly he can't play through it. he's been one of the worst goalies in the league all year long. i think babs needs to sit oz for a stretch. let him get his mind back in the game, it's clear he has no confidence. he's got angles wrong, he's coming out to far to challenge, or staying in too deep and not challenging, his puck movement is off and he just looks constatnly shakey. sit him babcock!

It's a pity this streak will most likely end tonight... why can't detroit be a machine again...................

It's simple. They don't have key role guys any longer in the line-up; Downey, McCarty, nor Drake... therefore, our team consistently gets run over and so does our goaltender.

Our macho coach (not) smiles and laughs whenever his team is wrong like a scorned 8th grader.

Do you even realize what you just said it's the opposite this year osgood is Hasek and conks is osgood

Good to know you are here to chime in and talk about how enforcers magically help the team.

How did Downey's game go again?

And Huskies: Read what he said again. You obviously don't get it.

I've steered away from the lack of confidence thing with Ozzie. I worry more about him turning inward and being so upset with himself that he can't get back on track. Focus issues, rather than doubting himself?

Why do I never see you post unless the Wings have just lost?

I can just imagine you sitting there rubbing you hands together with a sly smile on your face everytime they are about to lose a game.

When I quit buying tickets (have you ever bought tickets from Sweden?) and supporting the team will be the day I have no right to critisize the product I support.

Thank you kid, I appreciate it.

No problem pops.

And it isn't about criticism. It is about you making the same excuse over and over as to why the Wings lost their games.

Why did Downey not help Detroit beat Dallas when he played? Where was the machine then?

I'm starting to think that the Wings actually play worse defense with Ozzie in net, that it's not just in my head.

I swear they let up a ton more breakaways and 2-on-1's with Oz in there than they do when Conks is playing.

No surprise you had no response to the rest of his post, ESAD. Pretty typical of you.

Anyways, this game wasn't lost because of goaltending, lack of an enforcer, or lack of talent. I think it was simply a lack of effort and sloppy play. Sure, Osgood had one you could really blame on him, but he had at least three or four that should've been goals.

For some reason, and I have no stats to back this up, it seems like the defense simply plays better in front of Conklin.

In the first half, that was not the case.

Lately, minus yesterday's game, they have looked much more solid in front of Conks.

Honestly, I would've loved to win this game because winning is fun and all, but I think there's been a great deal of improvement with the way this team as a whole has played lately. But they've played a lot too...I did my afternoon "briefing" on the game and I thought to myself, "ya know, we're probably not going to win tonight...it'll be a rough one..." And it was. I'm not pissed. Osgood still played well and the team's played well lately. Plenty of positives to take from this last week.

If all this keeps up, once we're healthy and heading into the playoffs, we'll be ready to bring our A-Game. This team knows how to turn it up and win. I'm far less worried now than I was 2-3 weeks ago.
