2009 NHL Trade Deadline Thread

I would be shocked if we acquired someone.... We are having trouble making room to play all the players.

It really does seem that every single player we've called up has been even better than expected. And the expectations for these guys have been high as it is. As much as I like the trade speculation, with as tight as it is, I don't see Holland trading for anything more than a depth guy making nil in exchange for futures, if he makes a trade at all.

I could see a team like TB or Phoenix giving up a depth guy merely to cut budget costs to finish off the season.

Per Sportsnet.ca -

Anaheim Ducks GM Bob Murray informed Chris Pronger and his agent Pat Morris his intention is not to move the all-star defenceman at the deadline, according to Sportsnet sources.

With the uncertainty over whether Scott Niedermayer will retire after this season, it's believed Murray will hold off making further decisions on Pronger until the draft in Montreal in June.

With Pronger off the market, the most high-profile defenceman who could move before the NHL's 3 p.m. ET trade deadline Wednesday is Panthers' Jay Bouwmeester, who has not signed an extension with Florida.

Woohoo! Trade deadline day is here and schools are closed for a 3rd straight day (it's pretty amusing how far 6" of snow goes in VA  ), so for once I can watch all the action ... hopefully there will be plenty!

I love the fact that TSN actually takes hockey seriously. Just further proof that Versus and NBC and all American hockey coverage is a complete joke.

Trades usually start happening at about 11.

For what it's worth, The Fourth Period is reporting the Wings are actively looking for a goalie; an update (and perhaps related) is that Montreal has recalled Marc Denis from the AHL. Could the Wings be looking at Jaroslav Halak? Not saying that I think it will happen, but just asking.

Eklund says the Wings are looking at Vokoun.
