egroen 384 Report post Posted February 27, 2009 http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2009/02/27/...eentry_waivers/ Tortorella said [as an analyst]: "Enough is enough. He's embarrassed himself, he's embarrassed the (Dallas) organization, he's embarrassed the league and he's embarrassed his teammates, who have to look out for him. Send him home. He doesn't belong in the league." Rangers GM Glen Sather told the New York Post on Monday of the potential conflict between the new coach and Avery: "He doesn't have the history with Sean that we do. Over time you learn to love him, just like I do." Price tag is $1.9m for 3 years.
Guest micah Report post Posted February 27, 2009 http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2009/02/27/...eentry_waivers/ Price tag is $1.9m for 3 years. He's a steal. He's also a retard. I don't want him here again, but I do enjoy watching him on other teams. I don't care for his off-ice antics, and I think that what he brings to the ice, the s***-disturber stuff, would be wasted in Detroit. Not because the Wings' players are classier than Sean (though most probably are), but because they just cannot or choose not to play his style of game. A guy like avery thrives on attention, amnd is at his best when his teammates are egging him on. I don't think they would be here.
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted February 27, 2009 With Torts behind the bench, me thinks a s***storm is a-brewin'.
Third Man In 2,091 Report post Posted February 27, 2009 Maybe the Sharks pick him up. The LeTurtle experiment was such a success at getting in the Wing's head, maybe they try the same with Avery and Dallas.

esteef 2,679 Report post Posted February 27, 2009 Say what you want about Avery, but him screening Brodeur was funny as hell! esteef
SweWings 45 Report post Posted February 27, 2009 Well having Tortorella on the team is a big enough disturbance - adding Avery might be overkill.
zenway9 1 Report post Posted February 27, 2009 The Rangers season is already in a downward spiral...may as well go the distance and pick him up and call it in.
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted February 28, 2009 (edited) I think it would be hilarious if the Torts-led Rangers didn't win another game this season. And the Rags are one of my East teams. EDIT: Geography. Edited February 28, 2009 by edicius
daniel1 32 Report post Posted February 28, 2009 I doubt that Torts wants Tippet's sloppy seconds. It wouldn't just be *** for tat with a **** like Avery either... they still have to pay/play him for 3 more years after this season too.
cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted February 28, 2009 When Tortorella was on "The Panel" on TSN, he said: "Can you imagine being his teammate?" He's probably had nightmares of that since being signed on by the Rangers. But, if Tortorella's smart, he won't take any calls from Ron Duguay.
Wings_Rule_1010 4 Report post Posted February 28, 2009 Say what you want about Avery, but him screening Brodeur was funny as hell! esteef That was hysterical. I was dying of laughter when I saw him do that. You have to be especially special to have a rule named after you.
Shaman 713 Report post Posted February 28, 2009 That rule should have never been made, I mean acting like a fool on ice is fine to me so long as its not taking runs at people or sth
Vladifan 680 Report post Posted February 28, 2009 http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2009/02/27/...eentry_waivers/ Price tag is $1.9m for 3 years. Which reminds me...."Razor" ?? , the color guy for the Stars, recently described Avery as suffering from "Sensitivity-Deficit Syndrome". OK. So you had to be there. Grim 5 Report post Posted February 28, 2009 the only trouble I had with Avery's antics during that play was his deliberate stick waving in Brodeur's eyes/face. I suppose the refs at that game couldn't call a penalty cuz no contact was actually being made. I am glad the Avery rule was put into effect.
Never_Retire_Steve 35 Report post Posted February 28, 2009 The guy was the Rangers best player in the playoffs, we'll see how he does this time around. Maybe he actually learned something and will smarten up a bit.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted February 28, 2009 Get it done Kenny! There's a good chance the Devils will make the Finals this year, so Avery could be a useful player in order to get Brodeur off his game like he did last year in the playoffs.
ComradeWasabi 109 Report post Posted February 28, 2009 (edited) Tortorella and Avery together at long last. Oh, this is going to be good. Edited February 28, 2009 by ComradeWasabi
Kevvie 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2009 One seat at a playoff game - $212.57 One beer at a playoff game - $10.00 Sean Avery for three more years - $1.9 million Seeing Sean Avery piss of Brodeur - Absolutely Priceless I think Avery will settle down a bit for a while. Personally, I think he's funny as hell. That line about the sloppy seconds...I just about pissed myself. I'd rather hear s*** like that than the canned messages you hear from players all the time (gut check time, giving 110%, help the club succeed). Go Avery
