Great. It is mid-March and we have injuries to Cleary, Franzen, Lilja, Hossa (even though he should be back soon). Goaltending and defense is average at best. We can't afford to lose these players. I just hope that Franzen and Cleary's aren't serious.

Guys going after Franzens head are classless, and we have no one to hold them accountable. Phaneufs bulls*** is irritable too, but he`s a ***** and wouldnt fight if asked anyways. I just hope the playoffs arent this bad, and the Wings get there head out of their asses, we need to score 2-3 goals on long 5on3`s like that if were going to win.

Kiprusoff had a great period, yes. However, the team was for most of the period just not passing well and not handling the puck well.

i hate the flames :ranting:

they're nothing but a bunch of goons.

and i hate that the red wings have nobody on this team that sticks up for anybody. it's embarrassing. oh, wait, our pp is our enforcer, right? tell that to cleary. tell that to datsyuk, zetterberg, holmstrom, franzen, getting their asses kicked every shift.

holland better get some toughness on this team this summer.

if we face calgary in the playoffs i think our whole team will be injured by the end of a 7 game series.

sad ******* period. the wings look like a bunch of little girls out there. it's just embarrassing.

Agreed, two potential injuries for one goal in a regular season game???

Downey would NOT have prevented Dion being an idiot and crosschecking Cleary. Franzen's injury happened on the PP after HE swung first, again, Downey would NOT have been on the PP. Downey in the line-up does not prevent ANYTHING from happening. Remember Lidstrom getting elbowed int he head, Downey was in the line-up that night. Enforcers don't prevent anything.

goon-panickers: this suppose to be tough flames did not anything but tried to catch Wings.

I'm not understanding you. Are you saying the Flames did nothing wrong?

If you are, I disagree strongly. If I've misinterpreted you, I apologize.

The Wings took a ton of abuse in that period and only have a 1 goal lead to show for it. They'll be killing a few penalties now after all the PPs they got.

Fights can be a pressure release valve in a situation like that. Fight Phaneuf for the hit on Cleary and there's a good chance things settle down. Instead, it escalates into the players all still being pissed off and there's lots of lumber being laid, cheap shots and a sucker punch.

Yeah I hate how the refs do that, the penalties can't be to lopsided. Somehow I think the flames know that they can get away with the crap they do because their PK is 3rd in the league, and they have a stellar goaltender. Now they are going to get a bunch of PP's they don't deserve just so the refs can even it up on the box score. One of those PP's is going to F us over.

Okay someone who has access to a stream or is watching the game on TV, can you fill me on what happened in the 1st since I was away from the GDT.

Please! I was here the whole time, and only caught the gist of it. Someone give us details! Pretty please!

What did the Avs do after the fight? Nothing. No cheap punches, no late hits. And the Wings won. Downey doesnt prevent anything initially. But if you dont think that after the fight players arent more accountable your wrong. What the frick do you think Babcock means when he says `keeps the flies off`?

Im thinking conspiracy: do you think that the Flames could possibly being trying to injure us for the playoffs? They know they can do what they want and not pay for it. The only thing they have to lose is 2pts. in this one but if they take some players out they can chop us down somehow. Im a few beers in but this is what i am thinking.

Hopefully Cleary and Franzen are alright though, but this is why you need Downey in. No he will not be on the PP but he will go out there and let the other team know these little stunts are no-no's.

Well Kronwall used to Punish them with his bone crushing hits, but now he does not even do s***.

there's more to fighting than being big.

Well he sure learn the other stuff so he's at least half way decent.

You have lots to learn about hockey.

I know plenty.

How is he a *****? He took one in the head when he wasn't looking. I'd like to see you withstand them. I give credit to him. One of the few times this year where hes stood up to not one, but two guys.

With that said, its pretty clear that everyone knows the Wings are soft. And our "enforcer" of a PP looked more like Marek Malik instead of Probie.

And yeah, that's the sad part. He never stands up to people, except on the rare occasion. I was happy too see him stand up to Vandemeer until he got clocked. He needs to learn to use his size. He needs to hit people like he hit Fedoruk Tues., but with more regularity. Not just once every thirty games. Datsyuk is tougher than him and about 4 inches shorter and like 30 pounds? IDK, but anyone who considers Franzen a legitimate power forward is simply wrong. He's a 30 goalscorer. Nothing more, unfortunately...

My argument to this is that Kronwall was not known for those hits until the playoffs last season. Why risk injury, especially considering his injury history, in the regular season? I suspect we're going to see more "bone crushing hits" come playoff times.

Holy s***, the last few pages read like a day care center gone beserk. From what little I've been able to glean (since no one wants to be nice and fill those in who can't watch the game) we're winning and Calgary is playing like the Avs circa the late 90s.

Okay. Does that warrant the pissing matches about who knows more about hockey than someone else?

HAHA -- what does this even mean? I mean what are you attempting to say?

flames tred to be tough but wings were too fast for them and penalties were logical result

my response was more answer to those who were panicking how "tougher" flames kills wings with a "grit".

It is possible if wings were to play according to Flames's rules but Babcock's team do not play as others try to dictate.
