betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted March 25, 2009 If I know anything about the NHL's tiebreaker system (and it's possible I don't) a Chicago loss tonight to San Jose would clinch us our 8th division title in a row.
Blueliner 69 Report post Posted March 25, 2009 Yep, but I would rather have SJ lose tonight. The Wings just need to make up two more points. Either by a win, chicago loss, or another scenerio that makes up two points.
norrisnick 1 Report post Posted March 25, 2009 Chicago is irrelevant in pretty much every sense imaginable.
sjradio 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2009 The Hawks basically have to win the rest of their games to have a chance, they're 20 points behind us and they have a possible 22 points remaining, 1 detroit win or 1 chicago loss would give us the division. But quite frankly the division was won after we beat the hawks after the first four times we played them this season, I think leading up to the home and home series (including the Winter Classic) we were up by four points over the hawks and they came into the game in Detroit on a 9 game win streak. Well after the 4-0 win at the Joe and the win over the Winter Classic, the hawks all but gave up on the division. The Hawks worry now is Vancouver, they are tied with the Hawks for 4th in the west and they are going to have to battle to hold on to home ice advantage. Detroit is no longer within reach, holding onto home ice is all the hawks can do now.

Lollipop 8 Report post Posted March 25, 2009 The Division title is almost certainly won for us anyhow...I'd love to see Chi-town post a win against SJ so we can make up a little bit of what we lost when the Flames beat us the other night. I haven't been concerned about Chicago catching up...SJ seems the more present danger at the moment.

I'm with the rest of you...the division title is a sure thing at this point anyways...whether or not they win it tonight or next week is irrelevant...so, for now LET'S GO HAWKS...beat the Sharks and get us closer to the much more important WESTERN CONFERENCE TITLE. Guest Shoreline Report post Posted March 25, 2009 Behind in the times.. A Wings win today and a Sharks win tomorrow clinches the Central. But, if the Sharks lose in regulation tomorrow and the Wings win today, the Wings would retain the #1 seed and eliminate one of the games in hand. If the Wings win and the Sharks lose their back to backs against the Hawks/Preds, the Wings have the #1 seed with games even and control their own destiny entirely. If the Wings lose today and the Sharks win both back to backs, the Wings will still likely clinch the Central by this weekend but kiss the #1 seed goodbye. Mors 201 Report post Posted March 25, 2009 I want the Sharks to lose tonight as well, The 'Hawks aren't catching us regardless of whether it's tonight or this weekend.
Inultus 12 Report post Posted March 25, 2009 I want a line brawl between the two teams, with Cheechoo taking one up the tailpipe.
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted March 25, 2009 A little off-topic, does the Hawks have what it takes to beat SJ? I haven't been following them, not sure if they are cold or hot right now.... Lets go Hawks! Cold. Previous to they're last win, I think they had a 5 game losing streak. I don't think they'll win. I think the Sharks will lose to the Preds tomorrow though so I think we'll only be one point behind them with the same number of games.
RyanK 1 Report post Posted March 25, 2009 I'd totally rather see Chicago beat SJ tonight then possibly clinch division, as that is sure to happen in time. I'd like to see SJ loose the next 3 or 4 in a row.
Dimaline312000 51 Report post Posted March 25, 2009 As much as I'd like to clinch another Divsion Title I gotta root for the Hawks I don't want San Jose getting ahead of us again. I think if we can win just a few more games we should be able to clinch it in a game or so.
