i know you are used to it... but it always amazed me that for a lot games out east here you have them starting when you are still technically at work... how do you manage to watch those games when they say start at 4:30pm your time?

Because of that, I would never complain about the 10:30 starts here because the alternative for me is having to miss games (just like the stupid olympics).

Well, before I lost my job (working for a video game developer/publisher), when I was working in the office I'd just check on the box score via Yahoo (or go to the break room with a big screen if it were on Versus/NBC), come home and catch the 2nd/3rd, but for the latter end of the time I worked there they let me work from home so I was able to simply watch it from here. From years past I was a student so classes and work study never really interfered with the Wings schedule.

One thing that would be a weird adjustment for me would be living out East and seeing the West Coast games go past 1AM.

Wow brilliant move, NBC. 9:30am start time, who the hell is going to watch that in the West? Is golf on later so you had to push the game to an early start time?

I really hope that article a couple weeks ago about a possible deal with ESPN and Versus sharing broadcasting rights will happen next season, this NBC crap is pathetic.

Er, the Walt Disney Company owns both ABC and ESPN, and had ABC put games in the same 12pm/1pm ET time slot before NBC's recent stint. Nothing would change.

hey let's be thankful they are actually putting on a team that draws ratings...I mean a few weeks back the "Game of the Week" was Boston and New York, which yes is an original 6 matchup, but it drew like a 1.3 rating which was like the 2nd lowest rated program during the weekend. Another thing to is it means we do not have to sit through Pens/Rangers, Rangers/Flyers, Pens/Flyers, or some combination of these teams against some other average eastern team.

3 p.m. – 6 p.m.

SHELL HOUSTON OPEN (live)

Commentators: Dan Hicks, Johnny Miller, Gary Koch, Mark Rolfing, Roger Maltbie, Dottie Pepper, Jimmy Roberts

Site: Redstone GC, Houston, TX

Only one of TNHLONBC's favourites (i.e., Eastern Conference slop) is playing on Sunday.

So, NBC puts on a game they know will give them good numbers.

I play golf, and it's hard to understand what entertainment value there is in watching it. Someone here probably watches it so maybe they can help me out.

All right, the whine factor has gotten a little bit ridiculous in this thread.

Shoreline is right. When weekend games were broadcasted on ABC when hockey used to be on ESPN, game times weren't much different. And they wouldn't be much different if games went back to ESPN/ABC. And just about all games broadcasted on NBC this year have started at 12:30 ET.

At least we root for a team that's so popular nationally hockey-wise that they at least get to be put on such broadcasts.

And no matter how much you whine about it, golf is going to be more popular and easier to identify with than hockey, which means it is going to get a better time slot 9 times out of 10. You may not think it is more popular, I may not think it is more popular, but to the majority of people in this country, it is probably more popular and easier to identify with.

Quit acting so spoiled and bitter and be thankful we have one of the better teams where they'll at least be on nationally sometimes. Quit reaching for stupid reasons in the complaint box. Find better things to whine about. Goaltending and enforcers don't count.

In fact, the TV rating was lower than any ML baseball game EVER.

My thoughts on this go to the folks (3 to 20,000) who bought tickets to a 5:00 game at the Joe and find out that it's been bumped. I wonder how many folks that really couldn't afford those tix to begin with, now can't go and may not be able to recoup their money. Not such a good thing to happen when things are so tough.
