Great start, and overall great period for Detroit.

Now the question. What do Wings fans take from this period? The great effort and hustle shown that we haven't seen much this year? Or the bad pass up the boards by Ozzie leading to the goal against?

Not the best goal to allow, but, still, not the worst our goaltending has allowed recently...

atleast it was of a fluke play, though the fluke play was ozzie's fault but I agree, there have been much worse. Either way though, bad play on ozzie's part, he really is terrible handling the puck.

Eh, bad pass by Ozzie, but we've seen worse from him.

The only thing I'm concerned about is, if this game were a playoff game, and the Wings came out flying like they are, and they're up 2-0, and then a goal like THAT goes in, its a HUGE momentum swing.

There is no reason for a goaltender who has terrible puckhandling skills to ever play the puck. What I'm trying to say is, Osgood should never play the puck. Ever.

Can't happen in the NHL.

Neither. You hope the Wings use this game as prep for the playoffs, and are prepared to know how to deal with deflating goals, despite playing well all over the ice.

Don't worry you will be seeing this transpire in a few weeks, and the blowers will blame the defense.

I think you know the answer. Fact is, that kind of goal is deflating to a team which was doing everything right to win. Let's hope they don't let it affect them in the next 40 minutes.

I know it can't really happen. But I bet if you could assess the true impact of having a poor puckhandling goaltender come out to stop pucks and try to help his defensemen, the net positive might be less than it seems.

why not both? That's gonna be our playoffs in a nutshell.

As long as osgood don't do stuff like that in the playoffs i can live with it... shut down the next two periods and he's forgiven :)

Wow, I guess Tonya Harding references are a no-no.

Osgood sucks.

You're right. "Somebody please injure one of our own players" is a no-no. So is this post, except that I needed it to quote in order to get the point across. "Osgood sucks" and "I hope he gets hurt" are exactly the kind of posts that don't belong.

And before you say it, criticism of players is not being censored, as it's perfectly acceptable to call that a dumb pass or a bad play or whatever. But it'll never be acceptable to openly wish for a career-ending injury to one of our players.

You aren't wrong, but coaches just seem to want to activate goalies even if they might be high risk. Ozzie obviously isn't a good puck handler, so he's probably going to make a few more mistakes than others. When's the last good puck handler the Wings had?
