Kira 451 Report post Posted April 18, 2009 God only knows. But Pasha will get the last laugh in the end. He's proving once again that he's no flash in the pan. He's playing like he wants it - and wants it badly. I'm loving every minute of it. If he doesn't get some consideration for MVP this season, something is definitely wrong. Well, the standard reason is that the Wings are too stacked. Of course, the people who say this often think Crosby or Malkin deserves the Hart, so whatevs.
selkie 10 Report post Posted April 18, 2009 I'd gladly let Ovie, Malin, or Crosby have the Hart if Pavel gets the 'consolation prize' of a Conn Smythe.
NHLrules? 32 Report post Posted April 18, 2009 Dats is quickly becoming my favortie Wing of all time. He is the embodiment of a hockey player. He plays all areas of the game well. He is amazing. I cant say enough about him. I didnt see Gordy's hay day, but I imagine it couldnt be much better than what we are seeing in Pavel.
Rice 42 Report post Posted April 18, 2009 There's not a forward in the league I'd take over Pavel right now.

Kwame_Kilpatrick 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2009 pavel is excellent i wouldn't be surprised if he isn't in the top-3 of hart voting. ovechkin will win but certainely datsyuk had almost as good stats as crosby and his plus minus is better so probably he will be 3rd place. i think he is a runaway for selke again tho mike richards isn't the class datsyuk is pavel is a legend four stars out of two for pavel he is god
Lidstromrules16 7 Report post Posted April 19, 2009 Datsyuk getting 97 points on a stacked team, outshining guys like Z and Hoss is amazing in itself. Combine that with the clinic he put on tonight. I love pavs
wmubronco420 25 Report post Posted April 19, 2009 i was reading a post over on ESPN whose arguement basically amounted to the fact that he hasnt had a 100 point seaon, cuz we all know at the end of the year thats what really matters.

servo 15 Report post Posted April 19, 2009 I'd gladly let Ovie, Malin, or Crosby have the Hart if Pavel gets the 'consolation prize' of a Conn Smythe. Or Hossa! How sweet would that be????
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted April 19, 2009 i was reading a post over on ESPN whose arguement basically amounted to the fact that he hasnt had a 100 point seaon, cuz we all know at the end of the year thats what really matters. That's because idiots like them who over-emphasize or over-analyze stats don't know terribly much about hockey, or this team, for the matter.
David 2 Report post Posted April 19, 2009 I was so glad to see him get up and start swinging after getting ridden into the ice tonight, not just because he showed his fire, but also because he wasn't hurt on that play. He got his head smashed into the ice pretty hard; dangerous play.
Kwame_Kilpatrick 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2009 i agree the referees let a lot of things after the whistle and pavel is definitely hanging in there! to say the least

C-TownWing 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2009 He is the embodiment of a hockey player. He plays all areas of the game well. He is amazing. I cant say enough about him. This is it right here. There's not a single thing in the game of hockey that Datsyuk doesn't do at the highest level, and that includes hitting. Hell, it might include fighting too, can't wait to find out. Anyone who says the Wings are boring to watch clearly doesn't understand how amazing this guy is.

Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted April 19, 2009 Well, the standard reason is that the Wings are too stacked. Of course, the people who say this often think Crosby or Malkin deserves the Hart, so whatevs. And none of those people seem to notice when Crosby has games where he's got 2 goals and is a -4. I'll take Datsyuk with 1 goal and a +4 over that Crosby any day (for reference the game in question happened in the last week of this season). I'm not singling out Crosby here- Malkin and Ovechkin have games like that too. I'm just pointing out that goals and assists only tell part of the story. Plus, as others have calculated (someone on HFBoard?)- if you take Dats off the PK and throw him some more even strength and PP time like all three players above him in points had and the numbers slide up for Dats. Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted April 19, 2009 (edited) If he hadn't scored the goal, he still would have been the best player on the ice. That's how amazing Pavel Datsyuk is right now. It's difficult to entertain the thought that after the season he had, there's still another level to his game. Kira 451 Report post Posted April 19, 2009 This guy plays his heart out. He's playing like he has something to prove. Not to us, mind you - we know what he's worth and what he can do. It's everyone else in the League that he's trying to convince - he's not what you think he is. He's more - a hell of a lot more. They say that prophets and artists are never appreciated in their own time. Well, this is one artist who is firmly convinced that he needs to buck that belief. And he's doing it. If we should go all the way to the end (and I see no reason we won't), there has to be some serious consideration for Conn Smythe on the horizon.
