if luongo stonewall's the blackhawks....look out.

the canucks dont have a powerhouse offense but they certainly dont need it with the way luongo is playing.

this series should be great, both teams are in uncharted waters

This series is going to be pretty exciting. Both teams have hot goalies, but the Canucks will have had more rest. That could be a plus or a minus. We'll soon see.

I hope the Canucks blow it, Chicago would be an easier opponent in the finals for one. And second, I LOVE watching Canuck fans get their hopes up and watch their team crumble. Bulin in his prime was a better goalie then Luongo, hopefully he can pull it out.

You're the clown who said we were gonna lose in the first round right? I dont think any predictions you make around here hold any water!!

It's called managing expectations. Expect the team you want to win to lose, and therefore, you win either way. I predicted the Wings to lose, but wanted them to win. So in the end, I'm happy. But what if the Wings do lose? Then what? Then you'll be disappointed, and I'll be happy because I expected it to happen.

And that's life really. If you always expect the negative, then you'll never be unhappy, because you always win, 100% of the time. Why does 1/4 of the US population take antidepressants? Because they don't know how to manage expectations. Can't be depressed if you expected the worst to happen can you?

Uh, would you really? If you anticipate something bad to happen, and then something bad happens, I'd say you're still unhappy at the end of the day. Not that I take issue with your picks one way or the other, but this reasoning is suspect.

I would say part of being depressed IS always expecting the worst to happen.

That's the most *****, cop-out, bulls*** I've ever heard.

What a disgrace to Red Wings fans.

Agreed.

Nah dude, it's just hockey. Go all in. Be a team player. Why does 1/4 of the US takes anti-depressents? You don't want to hear my opinion.

I'm hoping the Canucks pull this out, I'm tired of know-nothing Hawks' fans spouting off at the mouth for winning . . . nothing yet. The Hawks' might be an easier opponent for the Wings in the WCF (knock on wood) but I don't really fear any other team in this league so bring on the Canucks.

Should be a very entertaining series. Hawks won the first two games of the season, Canucks won the last two in very convincing fashion, 7-3 and 3-0. The last game featured a ton of fights and a full on line-brawl that featured MMA style take-downs, fish-hooking and hair-pulling and general all-out hatred. And for some reason, Chicago fans really seem to hate Vancouver.

Of note: Khabibulin hasn't beaten the Canucks in 11 years. His career stats are: 6W 16L GAA 3.39 SV% .887

And for some reason, Chicago fans really seem to hate Vancouver.

Of note: "Khabibulin has lost five straight starts versus the Canucks and hasn't won in seven games against them since Jan. 26, 1998, while with Phoenix."

Blackhawks fans suddenly seem to hate everyone, have a rivalry against everyone and think that its everyone else' fault that they haven't won the cup in decades. It's weird because I always thought that it was because the team sucked.

Speaking of Khabibulin, Sun-Times reported that the team left him at the Saddle yesterday after the morning skate.

Now it's on to Vancouver. Tough assignment, but at least the Hawks didn't get left behind in the first round like their goalie did earlier in the day.

Khabibulin walked out of the Saddledome minutes after the bus carrying Hawks players from Monday morning's skate pulled out of the parking lot. Because of a miscommunication, the most important player on the team was stranded with no ride to the team hotel.

He ended up sharing a taxi with reporters. No big deal. Khabibulin responded by stoning the Flames time and again when it mattered most.

This is going to be a hard fought series. I really want to see Chicago win because a Detroit Chicago finals would be awesome assuming we both take care of business this round.

I was thinking a very similar thing:

This is going to be a hard fought series. I really want to see Chicago win because a Detroit Chicago finals would be awesome and the Wings wouldn't travel to VAN and all of the games would be at a normal time for us East Coasters!

ChitownWingsfan -- I edited my above post after you posted because I realized that the info I got was from 2007. I know he hasn't beaten the Canucks since then though and I also posted his stats against Vancouver. They're abysmal. 6W 16L GAA 3.39 SV% .887

Now that the Hawks are moving through the playoffs, when will the announcers start the "Hawks have gone the longest without a cup" chant they hammered us with unti our drought finally ended. If the Hawks end up winning the Cup the one blessing would be then the team that is up with the loungest drought is the one team most Wings fans would rather it be then the Hawks...
