Mike Brown's hit on Hudler

4 minutes. There was just a little bit of blood goofball.

Just a little blood? What about all the blood on the ice, as well as Huds hands, AS WELL as the towel that Piet was holding up to the gash that required 10 stitches?

Only a few drops though right?

Pic 1: Brown clearly hitting Hudler, in the face, with his stick.

Pic 2: Brown following through, after hitting Hudler, in the face, with his stick.

Anyone who sees that as clean, is clearly a damn idiot.

It was all physics I tell you. It's not Brown's fault he's so tall.

I agree 100% More than just a little. Check the video I just posted. It's pouring out of him on the ice.

Since Huds is back I imagine if there is a suspension it will be minimal.

Yeah, as stupid as it is, that counts, even if it's the exact same hit...for that reason, it won't be as long as Brashear's--and don't forget, one of Brashear's games was for the pregame incident and five for the hit on Betts. I'm guessing 2 on this one, but that's ok, we'll be up 3-0 by the time he's back ;)

Did he hit Hudler with his stick or elbow?

It definitely seemed like his stick to me and I feel that is just as bad or worse as Donald's hit. Further picture and video evidence show to me that it was his stick. I'm glad to see he was back when he got up i was worried but then i saw a replay of it and saw the look in his eyes and had a hunch he would be back. I don't know exactly who the CBC announcer is for sure he doesn't sound familiar to me and my cable company recently dropped CBC kind of bummed about that, but from the sounds of it this guy is nuts it was clearly a cheap shot accidental or not there was no need to follow through on that hit, especially with his stick across someone's face. Me personally I feel he should be gone for the series. We'll see what he gets though, hes a big part of their penalty kill, so I wouldn't be suprised if he only got one or two games, remember there seems to be a parity in this league now a days.

I thought stick at first, but watching the CBC video above, I think elbow. The stick followed his arms around, which made it look like a follow-through. The butt end was in there with his elbow, but it didn't look like it got to Huds' face. JMO, it's hard to say for sure.

Brown SHOULD be done for the series, but I don't think he will be.

The fact that he wasn't seriously injured should no bearing on the punishment. That's telling players "hey, we don't care if you hit them in the head, just don't make them miss any games"

Brown deserves as much as Brashear because the league has warned players about this and if players keep disregarding the warnings, they deserve harsher punishments.

Because it was an Anaheim player, the league will only give him 2 or 3 games.

One thing that everyone who says it was the visor when he hit the ice not the hit that cause the cut, look just after the hit, at Brown's arm, it has blood on it, that proves it was the hit

Brown is both a gutless coward and an idiot, he could have had a spectacular hit instead he see's the need to raise his stick and elbow and drill the smallest player on the ice right in the head. Considering he already missed tonights game he should get 2 at least, though I'd prefer to see his dumpy ass out of the series entirely.

Ducks fans just don't get it.

It's as simple as this.

Head up or not, you cannot lead with your stick and make contact with another player's head. It's a fast game but I have trouble believing that he saw Hudler at a generously listed 5'9 and couldn't pin his elbows to his side so that he made contact shoulder to shoulder.

Pronger's one game for the flying elbow to Homer's still fresh in my mind, I thought they really screwed that one because of his importance to the Ducks, they didn't want us to win the series because of a suspension.

We'll know soon enough I guess. I think the thing that's most concerning to me is the trend we're seeing here. It used to be that you'd try to get a good player to fight a fourth liner and win the penalty tradeoff. Now it's gotten to where you have plugs taking headshots, figuring if they can knock out a key player like Huds (or Betts) for the playoffs, it's ok if they get suspended, they win the tradeoff.

I could see this going either way for a number of reasons. I don't think it's too far removed from the Brashear hit though at the end of the day. These kind of plays that ultimately boil down to utter an lack of respect between players all ought to be handled the same way if they want to actually start to manage them. While I won't be shocked if he just gets a game, I think it's quite likely that he gets five.

Again, hits like this no matter the severity are about a lack of respect between players. Those kind of hits need to end because you never know how you're going to catch someone. I still say Bertuzzi's cheap shot was far flakier than it was menacing and the situation ended a guys career. This kind of bulls*** needs to stop.

I'm all for fighting. I'm all for a physical game. But keep s*** clean. Keep hits and sticks down. Lay off when you see numbers. Show some damn respect for fellow players. It's that simple.

There shouldn't have even been a penalty, he had the guy in mind first puck second, he probably thought he was keeping the puck since the pass wasn't exactly open. The kid went down and is back in now shouldn't be any suspension there have been so many no calls for the Ducks like you know blantant tripping by Det.

There was TONS of tripping going uncalled. Don't even start that game.

I didn't like the hit AT all. Factor in some homer bias, and it should (and hopefully will) be 2 game suspension. More would make me happy, but it's a shot to the head, a deliberate headshot, and has to be suspended. I think the hit on Cheechoo by Perry may also factor into this as well somehow. I don't consider it as bad as Brashear's though, Brashear hit a guy who was trying to get off the ice, Hudler was just unaware of what was going on.
