my only question is why cant the other refs who actually have a good view of the play overule the guy waving it off. like in football even if a play isnt reviewable the refs will still get together and pick up the flag if they saw it differently

I hate the Ducks. I just hope the Wings hate them more.

C'mon, the series is 2 - 1. Hardly over.

Maybe, just maybe, the team can use this as a springboard just like they did last year after the screwjob they got in '07.

They only have themselves to blame for this. They need to do what they did last year and find the balls to play they way they can play.

We will see the true character of the team this next game.

I think the best thing about this game is that the Wings were outplayed for the first half, came on srong in the last half, and tied the game.

Forget about the bad call. Hossa finally got the monkey off his back. He's going to be huge in the next game.

The only thing that really frustrated me tonight was the perimeter shots. It really did remind me of those dark years between 2002 and 2007. No more dump and chase. Carry it in, you'll inevitably lose it, and have another player swoop in and pick up the bouncing puck. Only way to get it in. We cracked Anaheim the last half of the game and were making things happen. Hiller saved Anaheim repeatedly. We'll solve them eventually.

Nothing better than tying it in Game 4, going back to Detroit with momentum.

Game 4 is a must-win for Anaheim, too. If they don't put us away, they're in trouble.

What's the penalty/consequence for slugging a ref?

Anyone have video of Niedermayer at end of game 2 OT3? I heard he was offside, that play should have been whistled before the goal?

Denied G2 OT4 and G3 OT1 ...

The worst part about that call is that now we have an excuse despite the s***ty game that we played and despite all the shots that we missed wide, or shot into the goalie's chest.

Neither team deserved to win this game.

yeah, nice graphic - but at the end of the day this game was lost on one bad goal by Lebs and Cheli. I'm wondering if that happens if Rafi and Lils are getting the ice time they should.

Overall, Chelios was great tonight. Got us two powerplays and even shot more than he had in months in a single game.

And that non-call when Kronwall got leveled 6 feet from the puck, then turned around and got sent to box, was nearly as bad. Seriously, are these guys watching the same game as we are? ******* one minute left in the game, losing team crashing the crease, loose puck, YEAH, NOW'S THE TIME FOR A QUICK WHISTLE.

You unbelievable ******* dumbs***. God... I don't have any words for this.

The rule is too well thought out for the NHL. Sorry.

Right, because they could never beat us if the series was tied 2-2.

This is a must win game for us and not them. I can't remember ever seeing the Wings come back from down 3-1.

I am big into conspiracies, even if the NHL is NOT corrupt, they should hire refs who know how to their job. Puck loose, play not dead.

The thing is, the refs DO know how to play the game -- and they "play" it very well. Remember that razor-sharp eagle-eye offsides call, where the Wings kept playing because they didn't hear the whistle? That was a hell of a good eye. But then, oh, wouldn't you know it? Puck's in plain sight, freezing whistles have been late all game long, the game hangs in the balance -- but nope, sorry, "intent to blow." And blow he did.

Hmmm so the fact this team played like crap tonight, fought through ZERO checks, never drove to the net, or paid a price to win is negated by the refs horrible job. Guess what - noone cares about the refs now. The GAME is over!! This team brought back all those old memories of not doing what it takes to win. These f'n PERIMETER shots over and over bring back such s***ty feelings.

Disgusting.

And by no means am I fairweather, i'm calling it as I see it. Game 3 was HUGE. Now Game 4 is a must win.

And don't tell me Hossa is not hurt. Either that or he just doesn't wanna pay that price to score.

QFT. Can't tell you how frustrating it was to not see anyone take it to the net. Draw the penalty at least even if you don't score. The Ducks obviously wanted it more tonight.

Not disagreeing with either of you, but Hossa did drive the net at the end, finally. He scored a goal. We tied it at 2, seems like OT should've started by now.

WHAT!? Two PPs that we didn't score on. He cost us the first Anaheim goal.

He didn't cost us that goal. He certainly didn't do much to stop it, but that's what you get when you have a 60 year old man playing last man back.

Sure the refs suck. Sure that call sucked.

But if the Red Wings don't play like ballless wonders for 40 ******* minutes (or 80 if you count the OTs), this series is at worst 2-1 Wings and probably 3-0.

NOw they are facing a must win game in game 4, without Rafalski in all liklihood, without Draper (even with him it's not an improvement), with 90 year old Chelios and Meech on the blue line and star players with absolutely NO heart.

This team was so gutless for so much of this game Chris goddamn Pronger was clowning Datsyuk.

It's over.

Let Hossa go. convince Homer and Drapes and Maltby that it's time to go. Bring the kids up and hope that chicago or Columbus don't take the division away next year.

your an idiot, fans (if thats what you call yourself) like you make me sick.

I don't understand how the ref could f*** that up? He was standing right behind the net. That being said from the time we went down 2-0 we completely dominated. Besides the ref, Hiller won that game for them. If we play like that for 60 min they can't hang. They got lucky tonight it must be said. Their 2nd goal was questionalbe goaltendeder interference right after Stuart got a questioanble intereference call. If that was Holmstrom crashing into Hiller prob would not have counted. Now if we come out playing our brand of hockey Game 5 we will win and go back to Det tied 2-2 and we will be in good shape. Alright guys, good night. Go Wings!

Good point...I think the trend of us coming on at the end of games is a positive, because I can't help but think we'll be stronger at the end of the series too. Wisniewski's probably out, we hopefully get Rafalski/Draper back. The longer this series goes, the more I like our chances.

All starts with game 4 though. We haven't had a must win like this since...well, the last time we played these a-holes in the playoffs.

Seriously....the Wings played god-awful, but at the very least, forgiving the Neidavacation nonsense, they tied the game....and they were robbed.

It's all true, play better in the beginning and it may not come down to that. But it did, and we were freakin robbed.

Sure it would help to play good for the entire 60 minutes, but even when we don't, when we eventually pick it up, the refs f*** us. The Stuart hit, and the goal are the two examples tonight. So if they played 60 minutes instead of 30, they would've been f***ed 4 times instead of 2... Can't beat the Ducks AND the NHL.

Sad thing is, if the Ducks win the series its gonna they beat us physically and intimidated us with their size, when all hey do is wait for the whistle to blow (or intent to blow) then start crosschecking, elbowing and slashing and punching. When is Perry gonna get his just desserts? That crap in the second after the whistle when Zetterberg skated by and he elbowed him? That deserves payback. How about a nice stick in the chops? f*** it! The NHL is giving the series to Anaheim anyhow, take the ******* suspension, just BC Two hand Perry right in the mouth...
