Holmstrom off Datsyuk and Zetterbergs line

I love Holmstrom but he has done absolutely nothing this series and nothing for this line. D and Z don't even want to pass to him out there because he doesn't have the ability to make a play, thus making it 2 on 3 whenever they're out. Powerplay absolutely put him out there but otherwise throw someone else on that line. Anyone else. What do you guys think?

Ever since his injuries starting plaguing him, he has slowly deteriorated in his production level.

At this point, he's honestly not a top 6 forward.

Play him with Sammy on the 4th line and maybe then he'll play a little harder and better.

THANK YOU, LORD!!! I am not the ONLY one who has seen this OBVIOUS development. EASIEST coaching change on the planet. Holmstrom, you only play on the power play. HELM, you're on Datsyuk's line. Rest of the team, be ready to take a wing spot on the 4th line. Scotty would have made this change after game 1. It's sad that Babcock is stumbling out there like this.

He can't deflect pucks anymore and he gets beaten in front of the net big time...

the whole team is getting old and tired...

Helm. That's funny....are you drunk?

Why is that funny? Helm is our best player right now. He's the guy the other team is having a hard time containing. A peg-legged defenseman could contain Holmstrom.

Normally I wouldn't even suggest this, but the evidence is just way too overwhelming.

It's time for Holmstrom to get benched. If Draper can go in game 7, I say we dress him, scratch Holmstrom and Maltby, put in Leino. We have to pull out all the stops, and it's obvious that Maltby and Holmstrom are not what they used to be. Nothing would be worse than an off-season of what-ifs, and there comes a time when loyalty must face reality, and these guys aren't getting it done anymore. Here's my line-up for next game:

Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Cleary

Franzen-Filppula-Hossa

Leino-Helm-Hudler

Abdelkader-Draper-Samuelsson

Lidstrom-Ericsson

Kronwall-Stuart

Rafalski-Lebda

I love Homer, but he's too much of a liability right now, and we have to lay everything out on the line right now or there may not be another chance.

I don't think laying everything on the lines has to entail blowing up the lines. The Wings played five minutes of hockey tonight and only lost by one goal. That should tell you something (namely, the Wings just need to put in a complete 60 minute effort).

Helm is a great skater and a perfect 4th line player but he has NO offensive ability. Yes I know he scored in game 5 but anyone in the NHL puts in a shot from the top of the crease with 2 people in front of the goalie. Hes blown 3 clear cut odd man breaks in this series because he doesnt have an offensive game. In a series where odd man rushes are rare you MUST take advantage of them.

Absolutely, everyone on this site knows it. I understand that the Red Wings loyalty has made them the organization they are but you can't just throw the season over it.

Holmstrom off the Datsyuk and Zetterberg line? I'd prefer every pile of crap Ducks player off of our players away from the god damn puck, they're dry humping our players leaving no passing outlet our any scoring chance off of Hiller's rebounds with their clutching and grabbing BS yet get away with it night and day for some unholy reason.

You've supplied your own rebuttal in the same post without even realizing it. Why do you think Helm is on the odd-man rushes in the first place? Because he's slow and got lucky? Because the defensemen fell down? NO. Helm has SPEED. Helm has TOUGHNESS. Helm has PUCK CONTROL. HELM CAN GET OPEN. If you can't see how Datsyuk and Zetterberg can benefit from this, then you're absolutely not paying attention to any of the games. Helm has been our best forward this whole series and playoffs. It's time Babcock does what he should have done after game 2.

Yeah sure

Well, you obviously don't like guys that hit, skate, and create offense. Sorry. Maybe you're right. Maybe it's more fun to watch Holmstrom skate around like a 400 pounder out there. We'd be better off with a 46 year old Joe Kocur than Holmstrom at this point.

I do not know how people will say about my opinion but I like Babcock to change a line a bit. Not for whole game but still..

Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Cleary

Filp-Franzen-Hossa

Holmstrom-Samuelsson-Hudler

Maltby-Helm-Abdelkader

I have loved Homer since I first saw his amazing play but he has done nothing. If this line works, stick it around. If not, keep the old work but play hard.

Cleary would be just as useless as homer. Put sammy on there. He looks like he is almost trying out there. I would say hudler but he is invisible out there.

Samy looks confident with them, He's not going to just give the puck to them just because of who they are.. Its similar to the Dubinsky/Jagr last year.. Dubinsky when he was first on Jagr's line would pass the puck to him and try to stay out of the way. When they became re-united. Dubinsky played his game and the line started to clique.

It's not like we didn't have chances last night, i cant count how many times we've had re-directs in the slot that bounced off the blade of player sticks.. Keep in mind, its California in the middle may, The weather is going to have some effect on ice conditions. That is the way i look at it. We could of won, but we had some bounces not go our way.

It was a wake up call game, Fans,Other teams, the team probably got over excited, thinking the Ducks would just roll over.. didn't happen.
