WCF GAME 1 GDT: Blackhawks 2 at Red Wings 5

We took out the best defense in the playoffs when we ended the Ducks. Playing the Hawks today i was so confident every second because after we tied it up we just owned them. Seabreeze, Campbell Soup and Duncan Queef got owned today... Owned! I really think we can sweep this series, did they even deserve a goal today? NO! Lucky bounces was the only reason this game was ever close. I was sweating every game of the Ducks series but i just don't feel scared at all in this one. We made them look like a bunch of scrubs today, the only hawks player that deserves kudos is Bulin. This is not cocky talk btw, this is just what i see.

I love that the argument is always, "Well, you know, there are SO MANY people who think you suck." It's never, "I think you suck, what's the deal?"

I think perception is much more than reality, in this case. There aren't that many people doubting Ozzie, just a lot of people who think a lot of people are.

Let the posers underestimate him. Better for the Wings. He answered Pierre really well. It's been 15 years and he doesn't feel he has anything to prove.

It seems like Oz always has to defend himself at the start of interviews with members of the national media. I saw the quick glance he gave Pierre at the first question.

It sucks but will probably never go away. He'll be the lousiest goalie in the Hall of Fame. :)

I'm not worried about any of them unless it comes out they're injured. We can clearly win and do very well without them at the moment, so until it becomes a matter of Pavs scoring or else.....I'm enjoying the ride.

We're not already in good shape? I wasn't aware this team was inches from elimination.

I mean even better shape. As-is we might not win each of the next 7 games. If we improve we might very well sweep 3 out of the 4 series.

Their top two guys played 15 minutes.

What does that tell you about how well Chicago can play.

It tells me that they have a poor coach. This is really simple, the top guys need to play the most. Q was so worried about line matching that he let his best players sit.

Just poor coaching....

Duncan Queef, lollllll

+1 lol @ Duncan Queef...

That was a good game. I for one am appreciative to have an opponent that's not constantly dirty as can be gotten away with.

Great game, just still worried about Datsyuk, Hossa, and Holmstrom

I'd put them in the following order, from most worrisome to least:

1. Hossa

2. Holmstrom

3. Datsyuk

Datsyuk seems snake bitten out there- he's making great plays, holding onto the puck and setting people up, but nothing's going in. I think he needs a good goal or play to get that confidence back.

Holmstrom is definitely trying to make things happen, but I dunno what's the issue really. He looked good on the 4th line retrieving the puck, but he's not so hot on the pp.

Hossa looks lost out there. He's turning the puck over and his shots are lame. I have no clue what's up with Hossa.

Hossa is the only Wings player i was dogging today, what a bum. He seems to be hurt every other play, get some heart and get some confidence. Abdelkader looked better them him tonight. At least give half the effort for us as you did for the Pens. WTF?????????

Good game. Cleary rocks! It was close at times but the D was awesome. Ozzie played good.

After watching Datsyuk play in the last few games, it seems clear to me that he is playing hurt. Seeing the way he skates, it must be right groin or right knee.

As a result, he can't do sudden starts/stops and therefore loses most of his moves. He is still playing great D and is good on faceoffs, but he can't quite shake the opponents off as we all are used to seeing him do, and so gets fewer good scoring chances. His balance is affected as well, and that hampers his shot accuracy and power.

That's a pity, because rest is required for this injury to heal, and Pavel isn't likely to get any rest any time soon.

Got to watch to game at an unofficial Red Wings diner in Toronto today (Detroit Eatery on Danforth St. for those of you living in the Greater Toronto area) and had a great time.

Quick thoughts on the game; I don't think I was too nervous because it never looked like Chicago were in control defensively. Both teams played with fire but you expect that in a wide-open game. Our PK still sucks but after putting up with Anaheim it's clear our forwards are salivating at all the holes in Chicago's D.

Pretty good game, I thought Blackhawks took it to us right away in the start of the game and I thought we came out slow. Once we got scored on it was like a wake up call for us and we started to skate and take it to them. Once Clearly got that snipe, Blackhawks couldn't rebound and started to turn the puck over many times.
