Missed my 1st playoff game in 2 years and we won 5-2. Tonight I will be glued to the box watching us go up 2-0 in the series.

Expect more of the same and well, ... even more, Chicago !!

And Pavel: we eagerly anticipate 2 OMG goal highlights tonight!!

7 W's to go boys!! Goooo Wings!

If the Wings take this game, I could see the series ending in 5 or even 4 games.

If the Hawks take it, I feel the series will go to 7. All they need is a little confidence and they'll be hard to stop.

It's time for Pavel and Marian to get the monkies off their backs. They'll have a strong game and lead us to victory.

Go Wings!

WooWhoo, Go Wings! Let's take it to 'em again! A full 60 minute effort and a big fat W and I'm a happy camper!

Couldn't ask for anything more than going into Chicago with a 2-0 series lead!

Let's Go Wings! :siren: :siren: :siren:

Ozzie, Datsyuk and Hossa, oh my!

We're off to beat the Blackhawks! Those punk-rocker kids from Chi-Town...

We hope, we hope, we hope, we hope to knock their butts to the ground...

If ever there was a Wiz that was, we know it's Ozzie and this is because

Because, because, because, because the Wings are the best that ever was!

We're off to beat the Blackhawks. Those punk-rocker kids from Chi-Town!

Thank you for your sacrifice. :)

Shoot, I sacrificed for most of the playoffs last season.

At work they allowed me into the break room to see the playoff games on Versus/NBC (NBC for the SCF) on the big screen, and I ended up having to stay way after work was done to end up watching Sykora score that goal in like 3OT. Had to drive home at like 10PM and wasn't in a good mood.

Bulin has a .897 save percentage and the Wings average 40.3 shots/game during the playoffs.

(1-0.987) x 40.3 = 4.151

Ozzie has a 0.922 save % and the Hawks average 29.4 shots/game

(1-0.922) x 29.4 = 2.293

Final score Wings 4-2 just based on goaltending.

Nothing new on the practice update really.. the same old politically correct and media trained and assumed answers... "we just have to work through it sooner or later points will come, puck just hasn't gone in the net blabla". I think some of them are injured but obviously can't reveal them.

Just finished up the Red Wings' morning skate in preparation for tonight's Game 2 against Chicago at Joe Louis Arena. Most of the talk was, again, about the staggering odds that 12 games into the playoffs, we’d see Pavel Datsyuk with five points and Marian Hossa with just four goals (he scored a pair each in the two Game 4s), and Tomas Holmstrom with no goals the last eight games.

It’s hard to fault the line for not working hard enough, though, as all three are getting chances – and Datsyuk has been great defensively, especially killing penalties in the Game 7 against Anaheim.

“He does so many other things good for this team, the faceoffs, the killing penalties, blocking shots, takeaways,” Kris Draper said. “I thought that line came so close to scoring. This is a team. We’ve said it all along, that when this team is successful, it’s not about relying on one person and one line, it’s guys stepping up at crucial times and that’s what’s been done.”

On probably any other team in the NHL it would be a disaster for the top line to not be scoring, but the Wings’ depth is their shield against this sort of situation.

“It’s great to have deep depth in a team,” Hossa said. “Right now the first line is playing really well, they’re shooting pucks and good things are happening and we just have to follow. We’re doing lots of good stuff, but right now the puck just doesn’t go in. We just have to battle through it and stay positive. Sooner or later it has to come. We’ve done it the whole year, so why not now."

Holmstrom’s thoughts ran along similar lines: “As long as you work hard,” he said, “it’s going to come. We haven’t scored in a while, but I don’t think we’ve been playing bad. We haven’t been putting the puck in the net, though.”

In Sunday’s Game 1 Justin Abdelkader started on the line in place of Holmstrom to add speed & energy, though the experiment didn’t last long. “I was a little nervous,” Abdelkader said of the experience today. “But it was exciting and I’m thankful for the time I got to play with them.”

question about the projected lines ... Abdelkader-Datsyuk-Hossa???? is the first line?

Everywhere I read today says that Z-Mule-Cleary is the first line. And several articles on the freep say the Homer-Dats-Hossa line is still together. Weird.

I really think this game is going to mean the difference between a short series (in our favor, obviously) and a long series (that can go either way), so let's do this thing.

I wouldn't make anything of it. If the Wings win today, it's Game 3 that's going to mean the difference between a short and long series.
