"No Elite Goaltending Left In The 2009 Playoffs"

Are you guys ready to laugh out loud?

http://www.kuklaskorner.com/index.php/psh/..._2009_playoffs/

Chris Osgood is the weakest of the remaining goalies. His best days are done. He posted some pathetic numbers this year including a .887 saves percentage and a 3.09 GAA. While his playoffs have been better than that so far, he is not the type to steal a few games for you. Osgood was once a Cam Ward calibre goalie and even was running up to the Vezina Trophy in 1996. He has had significant playoff success as the Detroit Red Wings goalie, but has never been seriously considered one of the best goalies in the league. His career has been a case of right place at the right time. Detroit had a Stanley Cup team despite no elite goaltending.

The playoffs are supposed to be epic battles between elite teams. If none of the remaining teams have elite goaltenders then none of the remaining teams are elite teams. Detroit may come the closest to elite status, but they fail with Chris Osgood in net. The fan is cheated. Fans don’t get to see epic playoff battles between elite teams anymore because the NHL structure prevents the formation of elite teams.

Read the comments afterwards. Freaking hysterical lol

Facts beat opinions every time. So and So is worthless..... according to the stat sheet you're a moron.

Obviously the "elite" goalies weren't elite enough if they're golfing right now.

And Cam Ward has been a virtual nobody except for a decent season or two.

And it boggles my mind that they say Ozzie is the weakest. He's been, by far, the best remaining in the playoffs.

It's fine to be controversial when you know what you're talking about. Clearly this assclown hasn't the slightest idea.

The ONLY thing I could possibly see any sense of this author making, is that because the NHL has a salary cap, you can't get 'stacked' teams much anymore. The exception, of course, is the REd Wings, because players took pay cuts to come here, which is soemthing you never see in pro sports anywhere anymore.

I would agree that due to the salary cap, the talent is thinned out a bit on just about all of the teams (or maybe it's because there are too many teams), but I have no idea where that author was going with 'elite' teams and that you have to have an elite goalie to be considered an elite team.

Pretty ridiculous.

I thought that was an actual article until the second paragraph when it was clear he could not be a real writer because he didn't have a good grasp of the English language let alone have it mastered. He also doesn't have a good grasp of hockey knowledge. That could be the stupidest thing I've ever read. Granted, I wasn't able to finish reading it was so incredibly idiotic.

I have a man crush on Ozzie as much as anyone but Cam Ward is by far the best goalie left in the playoffs. Hes the one that drove Carolina past Boston and New Jersey. Elite goaltenders win a series and games by themselves which is what he has been doing. Now Ozzie is a solid goalie that is just asked to not lose the game but can make some top notch saves. The Wings are good enough that they dont ask the goalie to win them games.

If you think a wings team with Ozzie is better than a wings team with Ward you are insane.
