Ken Holland: Expects Lids and Dats to be ready for game 1

I don't want to sound like a mindless optimist (especially taking into account the whole Rafalski 'day-to-day' shambles), but I think that they will play. Eyewitness reports say that Lidström is walking completely normally (no visible bandages or padding, no limp, no hunch/cramp/etc.), and he has been exercising, so I don't think that it is that big a thing. It may just be that Babcock didn't want to take any risks.

I think it's the same for Datsyuk. X-rays showed no fractures, and he can get his foot into his skate now (he skated yesterday or the day before I believe), and said that he was having a harder time turning and stopping, possibly due to swelling/pain. By Saturday that should hopefully have subsided - in his case, the fact that he can get his foot into his skate is pretty important. Once again, if Game 5 had been a do-or-die match, I think that he would have played.

And all of the commentators seemed to suggest that Ericsson would be back for Saturday.

Similar to Cindy Crosby crying over Ovechkin (THE BETTER PLAYER- you whiny sob), and too many hats being thrown on the ice after Ovie's hattrick, apparently he's now crying that the Penguins should be emailed any Detroit lineup changes, as soon as they happen ...

Seriously though - we need all our guys healthy asap!! The NHL's bulls*** hype machine is already overblowing everything Crosby. Pul-leeze!

The Cup is ours. Doesnt seem many remember a mere 11 months ago, huh? We will defend it!!!

Go Wings!!!

this is also because Lidstrom's "lower body injury" is actually that tendon tear in his elbow that he's had all year... it probably just flared up and he had to get some shots... he's already said he's having the surgery in the off season...

Dats will be ready too, just needed the swelling to go down, the fact that he skated at ALL yesterday prooves he's ready, and if we were only up 3-2 or the series was 3-3 going into last night - he would have played. Just no point in risking either of them, when we're up 3-1, coming off of a dominating win in game 4... and as we saw in the result last night.... we didn't.

There is still a lot of hockey to play before the Cup is ours and Pittsburgh is going into this year on a better footing than last year. Nevertheless, I trust the Wings can repeat.

Crosby is a good player. I don't like either Crosby or Ovechkin that much but it's difficult to argue that OV is "THE BETTER PLAYER". Sid isn't crying as much as he used to, I think part of that is the coaching change, because we all know how a team can take on the attitude of it's coach.

A swedish reporter named Per Bjurman @ Aftonbladet.se did see him limping... so who knows whats true or not.

Ericsson had an appendectomy, right? I had one of those about 10 months ago and I couldn't walk right for a week! I can't imagine playing a hockey game 4 or 5 days after having that surgery.

I sure hope to God that this is true.

My mother just called me at work, and said on Sports Talk Radio, they said Datsyuk was out the remainder of the playoffs with a broken foot, and that Lidstrom would still be out with an upper body injury, and was totally uncertain on when a return may be possible. If this is per Ken Holland, per the Detroit News, I would like to assume that this is much more accurate then Sports Talk Radio.

So please Hockey God's let them play, and please bring the cup back to HOCKEYTOWN :D

My guess is she misinterpreted something a fan called in and said or maybe she misinterpreted the discussion...

I'm listening to 97.1 and they are talking about 'What IF' that were true...maybe that's where she got it from...

I'm sure if that was the case, it'd be plastered on the news sites.

Right now we have no credible sources of anything - probably won't know til tomorrow or Sat.

Was your laparoscopic (using small incisions and a scope to guide things) or did they cut a big incision? Ericcson HAS to be getting a lap appy. I'm certain the surgeon's were even more careful with him.

I wonder how Babs will form his lines when Pavel returns. He couldn't possibly put him back with Hossa, could he?

Im hoping something like this

Mule-Z-Huds

Homer-Dats-Cleary

Hossa-Flip-Sammy

Maltby-Helm-Leino

(Forget about Cleary in all the excitement ;))

Spread out our stars, their Defense wont be able to stop them all, outside of Gonchar and Eaton, their D is horrid.
