Frozen-Man 144 Report post Posted May 29, 2009 it is funny how ericsson has become such an important player on these boards.. Come on we haven't even started the playoffs with him. He's an excellent kid, but not yet critical for our organization. Ummmm yeah we did start the playoffs with him, he played the last 19 games of the regular season and he played in every playoff game this year except the very last one. He has played 15 playoff games this year and only had one minus game. He was a big part of the Defense that helped us get past the Ducks. He has 5 points in 15 games and is a +8 which is tied for first among Detroit Dmen. He is averaging 19:58 of TOI per game and getting good PK minutes. He beat the crap out of Perry which is a big plus for the Wings. AND your missing one really big point he became such an important player because Lilja is out (as was Raffy for a while). The fact that Lils was out FORCED him to become an important player. Our bottom 3 Dmen are Cheli, Meech, and Lebda which makes Ericcson a very important part of the Wings D. ifonlyicouldskate 11 Report post Posted May 29, 2009 I can't promise anything. I'm a diehard wings fan and I'm sure your a diehard pens fan. I don't know how this series is going to play out. If things get ugly like in some previous ducks series. I would have a hard time giving any kudos. But on the other hand if it a great series, then props would go where they are deserved. pmowen 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2009 If, and I realize that's a big if, the Penguins win this series, give them some credit, admit you were wrong about them, and don't make any excuses. I don't want to hear about how so and so was not 100%, the refs screwed us, the schedule screwed us blah blah blah. If the Wings are as big and bad as you think they are and to this point I have no reason to believe otherwise, they should be able to overcome any of the above obstacles to defeat what you say is a much weaker Eastern Conference team that hasn't played anyone, has a crappy defense, has Crosby and Malkin and nobody else, blah blah blah. As classy as the Wings organization is, I hope that their fans will be equally classy in defeat. Show us why you're better than Flyers, Capitals, and Canes fans if the Penguins win. If the Wings win, I promise to do the same. I don't see why anyone should agree to that. I don't think the Penguins have a crappy defense or that they have nobody but Crosby and Malkin. Guerin, Gonchar, Stall etc are all good players. If the Wings end up playing without Datsyuk, Lidstrom, Draper, Lilja, Ericsson etc, and lose in 7 games, then I'll have no problem saying that they lost because key players weren't playing. I know some of those guys are going to play in game 1, lets hope they're 100% and last the whole series. I won't blame the schedule or the refs, since those factors affect both teams. Hopefully everyone is heathy. In that case I see the Wings winning in 5 or 6.
Frozen-Man 144 Report post Posted May 29, 2009 Ok enough talk from me for now, let's get these games started! Oh that wasn't directed at you it was directed at RedWings because of his comment about Ericcson. I enjoyed your post and agree, there are circumstances and injuries and refs and all the rest but may the best team win.

MrB0629 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2009 (edited) IF the Pens win then they will have earned it and I will wish them the best but I don't want Cindy and Eve to be given all the credit and air time. This is a team sport and will be a team win. IMHO we have the better team and that is why we will be bringing the Cup home again this year. Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted May 29, 2009 I don't think the schedule does effect both teams the same way because of all of our current injuries. I'd agree if the back to back wasn't sitting on the Wings' homestand. Ask the players on the Wings whether they'd rather have the back to back in Pits or Det... The Pens want to go home with a 1-1 split in Detroit. The Wings have to take both games.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted May 29, 2009 If the refs pull some of the same s*** that we saw in games 5 and 6 last year, then I for one will complain. Ironic how the Pens get more powerplays in overtime than any other teams put together, yet their fans don't want others to whine. Also, we'll likely be without our best forward to start the series. How would the Pens do without their best forward, and would their fans whine about it?

But last time Detroit was this depleted I think they went 1-10 during a stretch of 11 games a year and a half ago. We all remember the Red Griffs. I call it as i see it. Maybe that s why I'm not too popular with some on LGW, but I see what I see and i'm not swayed by the bandwagon or a lose. I'd wish the Pens the best of luck, but I think the Wings are the ones who need some luck right now. Either way, I just hope it is decided on the ice, not in the War Room in Toronto. pmowen 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 I don't think the schedule does effect both teams the same way because of all of our current injuries. We have more injuries but that's what happens when you put an older team on the ice. Having a veteran team has good and bad points. In the end I think that the Wing's experience is going to be what helps them win, but it's a gamble. Both teams have almost the same rest before the last series, and both have to play consecutive nights. I'm happy they're in Detroit for those first two! Idoit40fans 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 this seems like kind of a loaded request seeing as how we havent even played a second of hockey yet. i think your statement would be more appropriate if and when the Pens are on the brink of winning and its been a fair/competitive series. that being said, if you win because you are the better hockey team, then i promise ill give you props. and id expect the same from you. thanks, and good luck! Really? I'd think it was a huge BS if someone came out and started talking about this if their team was already out ahead. The only time it would be reasonable would be before a second of hockey had been played.
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 if datsyuk is out for over half the series damn right im gonna use it as an excuse. And why not? If Malkin was injured and the Wings won, do you think the Penguin-fans would give credit to the Wings? No, they'd blame it on not having Malkin.
thedisappearer 291 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 If they got this far, they are good. No question in my mind. But don't act like the schedule doesn't benefit the Pens (not your fault, and I don't think it was done to benefit them or hurt the Wings... but it does). Also, I can't make promises about reffing that hasn't happened yet. They screw it up, I'll make noise- I'll even do it bother ways. I hate the reffing more than I hate the league's marketing. Good luck in the series and thanks for being a reasonable voice of the opposition. Maybe we can turn you into a Pittsburgh Duck Guy and call you loyal opposition. Booster313 138 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 It seems like a fair request to me, I don't mind giving credit where credit it due, for instance...I can admit that Crosby and Malkin are amazing players. I can admit that Fleury is a promising young goaltender who seems to be in the zone this post season. I can also admit that the Penguins are clearly better than the Wings in at least one area....PLAYOFF SLOGAN. I don't know what you guys have this year but "The Beard is Back" sucks! About 80% of us even gave credit to Anaheim, which, if you're familiar with Wings hockey, is nigh impossible to achieve. You guys have a good hockey club. Crosby is annoying as f*** but most of us respect Malkin. We hate that you guys are the poster children of the league, but you are a good club. Hopefully not good enough to win the Cup this year, though.

I love that oppossing hockey fans post here, but I damn sure am not gonna take request. I am not a a Disc Jockey. I hate the Penguins, I really hate them. I think they are a good club. I think it is going to be an awesome series, but the hell with this silly request. I request that is Datsyuk is out then Melkin has to sit as well, it's only fair. GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 I'd expect this place to be a ghost-town if the Penguins win. I know I won't be able to read or watch anything related to hockey until the trade deadline at the earliest and the start of the '10 season at the latest. I'm assuming you meant the start of free agency, rather than the trade deadline. That would a hell of a lay-off.
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 If the Wings don't win, it will be the first time in a loooong time that I will be glad hockey is barely televised around here, unless you practically sell your soul to get it on TV. I won't have to watch ads pimping Crosby as the the second coming. Not that they don't do that now, anyway. If the Wings win again, you won't see them touted as the champions (again), anyway, so win-win!!
