Hoosa set for rough return

“It’s going to be loud in Pittsburgh,†said Hossa, who left the Penguins after last year’s finals loss to Detroit and signed a cheaper and shorter deal with the Red Wings. “They show you what they think. It’s going to be great atmosphere.

“Nothing is going to change on my part. I just try to use it to my advantage, that booing. Play my game.â€

Nah, there's gonna be VICIOUS booing whenever he touches the puck. Perhaps whenever he touches the ice, even.

And just as an aside, Wysh just posted this on Twitter.

EDIT: Oops, direct links from Twitpic don't seem to stay working:

I don't know... those people REALLY hate Hossa.

In a small way I don't blame them. I mean, wouldn't we be pissed if after this season we let flip, huds, and someone like sammy go to keep hossa, and he left for a team that stopped you from winning a champ? lol...on the other hand, it's a free country and he can do what he wants and never made any commitment to stay. Just like if he leaves here this summer....I'll miss him but we all knew there was a very good probability of him only bein here one year right? So you're right, they are jealous, and angry about something thats pretty trivial except the losing other players to keep him part hahahaha way to go Sharo

The idiot I used to work with used fireworks in his backyard on his Pens Hossa t-shirt that he just bought right before the Finals.

Hossa may be the most hated sports figure in Pittsburgh of all time. Which is absurd, but that's Pittsburgh for you.

How about multiple goals and really, really shut them up!!

Better yet - how about a hat trick, all the Wings fans toss all their hats on the ice and Crosby cries to the ref AGAIN to make them stop.

or is throwing hats an "automatic" suspension for the offending scorer? ;)

Wow... They need to move on, seriously.

Like the same thing wouldn't happen in Detroit if one of your players had acted like Hossa. C'mon.

Hossa will get booed, cheered if he gets knocked on his keaster. The game will go on.

What Hossa did is like a guy fighting for the Americans in World War II -- looks like the Germans are unbeatable at first, so he figures he has a better shot of winning the war if he goes to their side. Because, you know, he's never been on the side of the army that won the war. So instead of gritting it out, and working hard to enjoy the ultimate satisfaction of helping to beat that unbeatable army, he opts for the path of less resistance. The easier way to glory.

You guys want to think that's no big deal, go for it.

And wear your German Army uniforms with pride.

I myself will stand with General Patton, and fight for the good ol' US of A. No matter how big the odds look against us right now.

USA! USA!

So far, it appears Hossa made the right choice. He didn't owe the Penguins anything.

Wow! You're comparing the Red Wings to the Nazis? Are you freaking serious?

No, of course not -- it's kind of a manhood thing.

What's more satisfying? Jumping over to the winners and taking the easier route, or digging in, fighting and helping your scrappy boys overcome the big bad enemy?

One takes grit and courage and heart and hard work -- the other, not so much.

Hossa's less of a man for doing this in my book.

Let me add one more thing.

Hossa IMHO has denied himself a chance at the greatest glory an athlete can have.

Years ago I heard a story about a recruit who was being courted heavily by Notre Dame. At that time ND was still a powerhouse, dominating college football. The recruit was asked, why didn't you go to Notre Dame and get all the glory? He answered, because I want the even GREATER glory of feeling what it's like to BEAT Notre Dame.

Watching the two teams this year, they're nowhere near as far apart as they were last year. Had Hossa stayed, he could've really help swing things in favor of the Pens -- remember, Hossa was their best player in the finals last year. Hossa could be a real difference maker -- moreso for the Pens than the Wings, who obviously could win it all with or without him.

Should Detroit go on to win, yeah I'm sure it will be sweet for Hossa. But it will be NOTHING compared to how it would've felt not just to win the Cup -- but to bring down the mighty Red Wings to boot!

Of course, there's the risk factor -- odds favor going to Detroit as a safer route to taking the Cup. But that's just the point -- "safe" is kind of lame in my book. The real man takes the risk, braves the odds, fights the fight.

Hossa chose the safe route. He opted to play for Notre Dame. He chose to be less of a man.

Tonight there will be 20,000 people reminding him of this fact.

Dude you make laugh,...you've got your homer glasses on so tight you've got rims around your eyes. When he wins the cup (and i'm hoping it's on your ice) i hope he looks into the stands and smiles. He made the right choice, he wanted a cup, he got one. Less of a man,....Gah you people are insane!
