SCF GAME 7 GDT: Penguins 2 at Red Wings 1

Regardless of Hossa's performance during the playoffs, there are some interesting scenarios during the off-season for the Wings that don't involve him.

Given all of the turnovers and sloppy defensive play and breakdowns that plagued the Wings at key points, how about letting Hossa walk and signing Bouwmeester to shore up the blueline?

I'd have no problem with that. I have the utmost faith in Holland doing whatever it takes to make this team the best it can be. I wonder if we were to sign Bouwmeester and if he were to have a Hossa type playoffs next spring, would the forum lynch mob butcher his ass the way they have crucified Hossa over the past few weeks. I think the answer to that one is obvious. This is one tough crowd.

lol at your sig.. just switch stuart for lebda

Stuart had a game that would tell me to put him on a suicide watch (Legace, anyone?), but Lebda just sucks... while Stuart directly was involved in Pittsburgh winning THIS game, I certainly do not blame him for the Wings losing this series...

I hope you're wrong. f*** scoring 40 goals during the regular season (and many of them CLUTCH goals) and not showing up in the playoffs except for game 4s for 3 rounds.

I'll gladly take more Helms, Abdelkaders and Cleary's to our invisible Hudler's, Samuelsson's and $7.65-million Hossa's.

Thank you for embarrassing us, Marian... I guess you didn't want to win that badly...

I still don't understand how people say Hudler is invisible....4 goals and 7 assists...

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/teams/stats?...=0&type=exp

Just in case people need to look at the stats again......Huds #8 Sammy #9 Hossa #5 (TIED with Cleary for points)...

Im not bashing any player, but before you call players INVISIBLE....make sure you were actually watching......

How many goals did Hudler score in the last 2 rounds?

His points mostly came earlier in the playoffs. He was invisible in the 2nd half.

Sorry, dude. I love Huddles... not as much as my wife does, but I think he's been terrible. Cleary has been much more effective, but I appreciate you bringing the numbers to our attention...

Just because they lost doesn't mean the instinct is back.

That will come with different personnel. I think it's gotten stale in the locker room. They need someone in the locker room to stir the drink.

Well, then they should have fired Scotty after the 1999 season as he did not lead the Redwings to a 3 straight Stanley Cup, or 2000 or 2001 for that matter. Just ignore that little fluke in 2002, his last year as coach.

Outside his 9 championships, he was an utter failure as a coach!! :P :P

In all seriousness, Babs is one of the best coaches in the game, and to quote Forrest Gump, even I know that is not something you find around the corner.

quit embarrassing yourself.

Hudler tries hard, but he's 5'4 and 120lbs. He can't possibly win the board battles and is too passive for much of his time on the ice.

The Wings can do better at the same price.

I hope Leino takes Hudler's role. He's stronger on the puck and he holds onto it better. Probably not quite as good a passer but what good are great passing skills if you suck at battling for the puck in the first place.

Blame the new guy eh???

Hossa this

Hossa that....

I didnt see Lidstrom do much tonight...

I dint see Hudler do much tonight........

I didnt see Stuart play like a pro tonight.......

But Hossa was the problem all along........ got it !!!

Relax he wont be here anyway he will leave and go to Edmonton and win a cup there next year!!!!

My point is ONE player does not make a team... If I had time I would find the Hossa signs threads and see how many of you posted in Glee that he was here.......

Like I've said in another thread, Hossa played very well in the regular season. He's one of the reasons why the Wings played game 7 AT HOME.

Ok, so he took a paycut to come to Detroit, BUT EVERYONE DOES THAT

geez, the team lost, not just Hossa.

I agree. The team as a whole lost. Lets give credit where credit is due, the Penguins played well towards the end of the series and our boys just couldn't get it done. Hossa or no Hossa we should have been able to put the puck in the back of the net.

However, lets not forget what our team has accomplished. We won the cup last year and pushed it to game 7 this year. Who else has done this is the past decade?

NOBODY, thats who. Let's be proud of what we have.

GO WINGS!!!!!!

So now its determined how well the player is by WHEN he scores ....??? Ok 2 against Columbus 2 against Aneheim...4 goals that makes up for 4 of his 11...the assists came in ALL games.....4 in the first two rounds and the other three in the next two rounds.......so its not like he did NOTHING! pshhhhh....

This whole me sticking up for Hudler.....people dogging me for it.....is old....a player is a player....notcieng you did not say anything about Sammy or Hossa........points are points....some players have NO points in the last 2 rounds.....you're not naming them are you?! So if you DON"T like Hudler....b/c that's the only one you like to rag on me about, then fine.....stas are stats....and he was PUMMELED to the ice in one of those games I believe...so if he played fewer minutes in the last two rounds b/c he was hit hard and got stiitches, then came back out to play...and you say he's invisible...then so be it......

I give up!

GMR has said things in the past about Hossa AND Sammy, sometimes in the same post.

Thus ends the seventh battle

By the treachery of men the field is lost

The night falls and great is the triumph of evil

The league is broken

The last vestige of hope lives in the hidden king

Only he troubles the dark one's mind

Only he could bring ruin to the black foe

Though the land lies down in agony and the curse lives on

A new star shall arise

And a new day shall come, again

I said it earlier.

I hope he stays as long as he makes no more than one million dollars.

If we're paying based on Finals performance, he should get .50 cents, because Draper scored more goals in the Finals than he did, and we acquired Draper for only $1.

What should Datsyuk get? How bout Franzen and Zetterberg? Do they get $2? Does Stuart owe about $5 million?

With your method, based on the way these guys played in Game 6 and 7, it won't be a problem to get well under the salary cap next year.
