Det var han som hakade Nicklas Lidström bakifrån i den tredje semifinalmatchen mellan Chicago och Detroit och svårt skadade Red Wings svenske lagkapten i underlivet.

Lidas fick, som SPORT-Expressen, avslöjade efter finalserien mot Pittsburgh, blixtopereras i Chicago den 23 maj.

Han missade de två avslutande semifinalmatcherna, men kom tillbaka och spelade alla sju matcherna i Stanley Cupfinalen.

När Sharp fick läsa om Lidströms dramatiska finalserie tog han kontakt med svensken och bad om ursäkt för den olyckliga hakningen.

– Jag tycker det var strongt av honom att ringa upp mig och be om ursäkt, säger Lidas.

I read it happened in game #3. I went through the entire game, but could not find where and when it might have happened. Nick was even on the ice for the overtime goal, scored by Sharp.

Meh, what can you do. S**t happens. It's done/over with. I hate that it happened, just like the Lappy/Lidstrom incident, but you can't change history. An apology is better than nothing.

I think Chicago is going to be one of those rivalries where we can hate and respect their team at the same time, unlike the Anaheim rivalry.

I really can't say I hate too many Chicago players, and it was a classy thing to do. It's weird to actually sort of like players on such a close rival team, like Toews.

Very nice gesture from Sharp. And for those saying it is too late to apologize. It is never late to understand that you did something wrong. Another example still is in the air - Crosby not congratulating few of our guys and not admitting he did wrong. These things come with age...

Draper's too fast, he would have dodged it. Some Detroit gang member in stands

(stolen tickets, natch) would have likely fired a few shots at Crosby in retaliation for the attempted spear. Bettman would have dived in front of Sid and taken the bullets. Would have made for good TV.
