Your best moment this past season

Now that about 2 weeks have passed since game 7 of the cup I am actually looking back and realizing the Wings had a great season. Wanted to see what everyones favorite moment was.

Mine has to be Dan Clearys goal in game 7 vs the ducks and beating the ducks in 7 games. This may seem crazy but I think it would of actually been harder for me to get over the Wings losing to the ducks in game 7 then it was to get over them losing to the penguins in 7 games.

Also I think the worst playoff moment for me was when the Wings lost game 6 to the ducks and then that ******* neidymyer elbows Dats at the end of the game and the versus broadcaster goes "look at Neidymyers veteran precence giving Datsyuk that elbow." He should have been suspended for that. I was so mad then the one duck starts throwing punches at Rafalski.

You guys share your best and worst moments.

I agree. They had a great season.

However, I can't help but be a killjoy to this thread.

Any time I watch a moment from this past season all I can think about is how they ran out of gas in the end. Whether it's Hossa's sweet goal against ATL, the awesome puck possession goal against the Hawks or Darren Helm's super speed breakaway goal, all AWESOME moments in of themselves, I can't help but think of how it all ended.

Whilst the memories of this man may be bitter sweet, i have always enjoyed this moment:

Usually when a Wing scores a goal, they look to thank the passer first and then celebrate. It still annoys me how Hossa didn't outwardly give props to Datsyuk immediately after scoring that goal. But I guess he "got caught up in the moment."

My favorite moments were:

Cleary's series winner vs. the Ducks

Ericsson fighting Perry and beating him

Sammy's OT winner vs. the Blackhawks

Kronner's PP goal in game 5 against the Pens, loved the way he broke into the zone then came out in front and put it past flower, just wish that game hadn't turned out to be our last win of the year

Abelkader's 2 goals in the Finals, those were both awesome, and a weird thing about them was they were scored exactly one second apart from each other in the 3rd period of games 1 & 2, thought that was freaky

worst moments:

The terrible reffing in Game 3 of the finals. Ultimately I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but that game had some seriously mindboggling breaks for the Pens

Niedermayer's elbow on Dats at the end of game 6, that sh!t was not cool, but at least we beat 'em in 7

Pronger's shoving Hudler from behind into Hiller in Game 7, then Hudler getting called for goalie interference, one of many terrible calls this past post-season

everyone's worst moment:

when the clock reached zero in game 7

Taking my sons to their first ever Detroit Red Wings game! Too bad it was Nov. 11th against the Pitts. Yeah, that one! But they still enjoyed the experience and it was an exciting crowd! A 10 and a 5 year old don't get too caught up in the whole rivalry thing!

But honestly, what a hell of a season! UPs, downs, WInter Classic, Dastyuk and Lids say F/U to the all star game. A rekindled rivalry with Chicago, winning streaks, losin streaks, we had it all! Injuries, Marion Hossa, and with that being said, we came within two goal posts, a couple of bounces and a Bettman from repeating as Stanley Cup Champs!

This game was fun.

I also loved Clearys game 7 goal. Revenge is soooooooooooo sweet. Oh, and knowing that Crosby gets to face Prongers elbows six times next season makes me feel better inside.

There were so many because it was a great season. To single one particular instance out would be difficult. One of the ones that got me out of my chair tho was Helms penalty kill and then for him to get the game winning goal. Truly awesome game for him.

The only reason he didnt give props to Datsyuk immediately was because this was his first goal as a red wing if im not mistaking. He was happy to have the monkey off his back because it took him quite a few games to get this goal. He was overly excited for himself, and for good reason, to have the first one out of hte way. This led to 39 others, all of which if there was a good assist he gave props. Im ok with it haha

Obviously there was some great moments in the playoffs, like Game 7 against Anaheim, Game 4 against Columbus, Stuart's hit, Kronwall's hit etc.

But I really loved this moment from the regular season:

Really showed the camaraderie in the team.

Also I loved the Winter Classic. Seeing Babcock and crew with those hats on was awesome, as well as the game itself and Datsyuk's goal.

There were a ton of great moments though.. I could go on and on.

Honestly, I'm sort of the same way. I never rate Yzerman's goal in 1996 that highly, because I can't forget what happened after that. Everything that's been mentioned so far was certainly a great moment, but ultimately, I define playoff runs by the end result, and 10 years from now, I'll probably still be cursing Max Talbot, but I might have forgotten about Havlat getting laid out.

That said, I'm going with the WC, particularly Datsyuk's "wind-aided" goal. That's the kind of thing we'll remember for quite a long time, a rarity in the regular season.

I started my Datsyuk compilation with that video. Check it out in my sig.

The WCF vs. ducks was my favourite overall experience this year.

Mine has to be the Winter Classic. We went into the 1st period down my a goal or two and by the end of the game we won by like 3 or 4 goals. That was a blast to see. I was really excited to hear that the Winter Classic this past season would feature the Detroit Red Wings. The team played some great hockey that day. To me it seemed more like an All-Star game where the players weren't really thinking about getting 2 points they were just doing what they should always be doing (having fun).

So my vote is the 2009 NHL Winter Classic: Chicago Blackhawks Vs Detroit Red Wings on January 1, 2009 at Wrigley Fieild. I believe the final score was 5-2 Wings but I can't be sure. I'll have to look at the tape this summer seeing as I taped it.

I'm pretty sure it was 6-4 Wings. But yea, a great day. Hudler, Fedoras and the fastest Datsyuk has ever skated in his life.

Thank you, yes you are very right it was 6-4 that my bad. Yes the players really played well in that game and made it very worth watching; as if it wasn't already.

My dad and I went to our last Red Wings game together, and Datsyuk scored

in the shootout. It was an amazing goal, and the Wild fans around us (who were really cool people) were just in awe.

Lucky...

And I'm afraid to ask but why was it your last Red Wings game with you dad? I hope you plan on seeing many many more yourself.
