therock48880 14 Report post Posted June 29, 2009 Now that about 2 weeks have passed since game 7 of the cup I am actually looking back and realizing the Wings had a great season. Wanted to see what everyones favorite moment was. Mine has to be Dan Clearys goal in game 7 vs the ducks and beating the ducks in 7 games. This may seem crazy but I think it would of actually been harder for me to get over the Wings losing to the ducks in game 7 then it was to get over them losing to the penguins in 7 games. Also I think the worst playoff moment for me was when the Wings lost game 6 to the ducks and then that ******* neidymyer elbows Dats at the end of the game and the versus broadcaster goes "look at Neidymyers veteran precence giving Datsyuk that elbow." He should have been suspended for that. I was so mad then the one duck starts throwing punches at Rafalski. You guys share your best and worst moments. You've got the same one I was thinking about. Beating the Ducks was one of my top goals for the Wings this year. Losing the cup to the Pens sucked, but knowing that they beat the Ducks took a little sting off the Penguin loss for me. On a related note, I've debated with myself and another friend about this topic. What if Anaheim would have won game seven. Would their physical dominance have been too much for Pitt? I don't see anyone on the Penguin roster capable of containing the Getzlaf line and Getzlaf is a GREAT defender. He would have had either Crosby or Malkin in fits. I'm almost thinking the Ducks would have beaten them in 7 games, but would also have beaten them up. I know that's off topic but I'd like to hear other people's opinions. The game against the Mtl Canadiens, the Wings were playing poorly and I was feeling super s***ty about ditching class to watch the game... Dad passed away about a month after that. Hopefully, I'll be able to get the cash (that game was my Christmas present) and go with my sister some time. Back on topic, the Winter Classic was a great memory as well, as was Hossa fighting. Mom came running in from the kitchen to see that one. The aunts were bewildered. BlakKy 58 Report post Posted June 29, 2009 I've only made it to 4-5 games in Detroit in my entire life. I never have the money... or any friends to go with me, they are all Leafs fans. I've seen Detroit play in Toronto once and that game cost me 165$ to watch from the cheapest seats in the house. I ******* hate the fact that T.O. tickets are sold out a year in advance and scalpers sell their tickets for 3 times face value. And yes I forgot about the Hossa fight! Kira 451 Report post Posted June 29, 2009 I loved being at the 6-0 drubbing of San Jose and the 6-1 beatdown of Dallas. I made it to four games this past season...never been to that many in a year before. I also loved being at the Phoenix game when we serenaded Wayne Gretzky with a rousing chorus of "Na Na Hey Hey Goodbye" My favorite goal is hard to choose, but my two top picks would be the shootout goal by Pasha against Minnesota, and the one I saw him score live against San Jose where he showed incredible patience in waiting for just the right moment to shoot it. So many moments where I was on the edge of my seat, throwing my hands up and cheering, high-fiving any/everyone in range, and yelling at the TV for numerous reasons. Hossa's fight, Sammys OT goal against the Hawks, Helms breakaway goal, Helms PK, Abdelkader's 2 goals, Filp shooting more, Kronwall's hit on Havlat, Datsyuk scrumming with Neidermeyer, beating the Ducks, Leino's first NHL goal, so many moments stick out. It was a great season. Unfortunate the way it ended, but hey we played with all we had. Through injuries, fatigue, nay-sayers, and having a huge target on our backs we went back to the Finals. However, Darren's kill was my second favorite memory. Thought that was the moment it became clear the Wings' destiny was to win the Cup. Sadly, didn't turn out that way, but I will remember that one for a long time - made me proud to be a Wings fan....
