Teams calling Detroit about Hossa

I wish you'd refrain from commenting on hockey. Every single one of your posts is so full of idiocy that I don't even know where to begin to correct you. It's amazing that one person can possess such a sizable capacity to be consistently wrong. At least you decorate your verbiage with double negatives ("dis aint none dat dem der bitterness") and other hallmarks of illiteracy.

I'm sure you'd have your salary cut in half to win Employee of the Month, right?

The argument that he's about the money is absolutely hilarious in the face of him spurning a 10-year, $80m-$90m deal from the Oilers for one season with the Wings, risking a career-ending injury that would deprive him of tens of millions of dollars to do so. That Hossa! He's all about the money!

Stop embarrassing yourself.

My opnion, I don't see him signing with LA. From what he has said he wants a Cup now and I think the Kings will be good in a few seasons. I don't see them being able to offer him a contending team. He will have to be the biggest star on the Kings roster for them to have any chance. I can possibly see the Kings making it to the Playoffs next season with Hossa but I don't know. Than again Hossa has said he wants to stay in Detroit and he has said he will take less money to do so. So I guess you can't really go by what Hossa has been saying all season long.

I want Hossa on this roster. I think the Wings do have the best chance at winning a Cup the soonest. If Hossa doesn't sign with Detorit or LA I see him going out East again becasue I really feel that the East just keeps getting stronger year after year. I am concerned about Detroit's future in Hockey. I don't want to have to see another Dead Wings era and I don't see that happening soon but you just never know.

I'm optimistic towards the future, I think the Wings have some good players coming up next season and the following seasons. It is going to take a hit on us when Liddy retires and Ozzie retires but I feel that in the coming seasons McCollum will get stronger in the AHL and be able to take over the starting role in Detroit. I just wish the best to Hossa whatever happens but I would really love to have him back in Hockeytown at least for a little bit longer.

Ship him off, already. Its not like we can play the numbers game with the guy. If we can't afford what he wants, get rid of his rights.

Agreed. We have a number that we can't exceed for him or for anyone else, for that matter. If he isn't willing to play for that number, then there's no point wasting time.

Unlike many I hold no ill will towards Hossa and if he did in fact sign a 10 year 40 million dollar contract I would s*** my pants and order a Hossa jersey right then and there. I do not expect him to sign at that discounted of a rate, and I do not expect the Wings to sign him to a 6 million dollar deal because it is not affordable. That being said; I said it when he signed here last year, he is a rent a player with Z and Franz having contracts up as well. Nobody wanted to believe it, but that is what he always was. Had the cap gone up it would have been different.

It makes the most sense for both parties financially to part ways. I loved having Hossa here, will always love him as a player, and wish him the best no matter where he ends up.

If LA can use Hossa as a lure for Gaborikl they have Kopitar, Gaborik, Hossa thats pretty good. They have a pretty decent defence and are a goalie away from a possible playoff spot (bernier ready yet?)

If he hasn't been shipped, that means he hasn't said no which means he's still thinking. Chill. They've been saying Monday is the cutoff since the idea came up a few days ago.

Or, if he hasn't been shipped off, that means Holland is in the process of negotiating with prospective suitors. Funny how that works, huh? Negotiating trades apparently isn't as simple as a joystick and a TV would have it.

Holland is a smart guy, if he knew there was ABSOLUTELY no chance that he could keep Hossa, he would have traded his rights at the draft. This tells me one or both sides see some reason to hold on hope.

Sorry to sound like a broken record, but I really don't think this is over yet.

If Holland has given a deadline of Monday to Hossa to accept the deal then guess what-Holland is giving Hossa till Monday GASP. Neither Holland nor the Wings organization are the type to promise a player one thing and then back track on their word. That's why the Wings are the best in the NHL and players want to come here and play for less than they are worth, it's all about how we treat our players.

Now, could Holland be on the phone working a trade of Hossa's rights? Sure. But Don't expect that to happen until tomorrow, when it's Monday.

The idea that we'll probably only get a freaking draft pick for Marian ******* Hossa makes me a bit nauseous. Without Hossa, we're a considerably weaker team, especially if we lose Sammy and Hudler as well. Looks like we WILL be picking up a bunch of new players before summer's end.

We won the cup without Hossa, and replacing Samuelsson with Leino is no loss. The only question mark is Hudler, which, if he ends up leaving for whatever reason, Holland will surely address with some scoring for the 3rd line. As long as Leino, Filppula, and Helm don't take any steps back, I don't see what the problem is. In fact, I'm of the opinion that the Wings suffered from having too many cooks in the kitchen this past season.

I'm honestly more concerned about Lilja not coming back.

What have they promised Hossa that they would be going back on by negotiating to trade his rights? To the contrary - Neither Holland nor the Wings organization are dumb enough to twiddle their thumbs while Hossa takes his time instead of working out a potential deal should it come to that. You don't wait til the 48 hour mark to start working on trading a guys rights that expire at the end of that period.

Why did you put up a picture of Ericsson? Because hes a beast on the penalty kill and blocks shots like its his only route to a paycheck?

We might lose our Scuderi. You dont replace that with a Letang, no matter how big he is.

I really like the kings lately, not sure why. They have a good group of young players who will probably all be superstars in their own right some day. So if Hossa does end up there, I wish him the best of luck.

Not really what i would call a cup contending team though is it Hoss. At least not yet.

I was just reading through the article about trading his rights and I noticed that it says that his rights would likely be traded "BY Monday." Monday is only a couple hours away and if his rights get traded by then, it would need to happen pretty quickly. If that quote is true, this whole situation could be coming to an end tonight, which would be nice. So, hopefully, within the next two and a half hours there will be a conclusion.

"June 28, Edmonton Journal: If Marian Hossa doesn't take the Red Wings' long-term offer for between $4 and $5 million a year, Detroit will trade his negotiating rights, likely by Monday, two days before free agency opens. "

No, they'd be getting a draft pick for NOTHING since Hossa wasn't going to sign here anyways.

I understand the getting something for nothing, I juts wish that someone as big as Hossa could land something a little more immediate than a draft pick.

The free agency period doesn't begin until noon on Wednesday - Holland said 48 hours so we should know by noon tomorrow...
