Zetts 236 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 This is actually very funny. If there's one thing in the world that I hate more than Pronger and Crosby...it's the Edmonton Oilers.
gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 I tuned into Eklunds little podcast a few minutes ago to see if he was flipping out about Heatley and they're going on and on about the $4 million muddying things up now despite it being on TSN that they've got 24 more hours. I send him a blunt Twitter more or less saying "How about you check TSN. They've got 24 hours." About 15 seconds later the podcast explodes with Eklund's info and now he's twittering "Sens have another 24 hours before they have to pay bonus. There I can finally say it. It is on TSN." Too funny. Eklund's worthless for descent info but he provides some of the best hockey comedy out there. These guys talking all of this madness up are just a riot. Make no mistake though, I'm not laughing with them so much as at them.

RedFX 48 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 You have to wonder how many contenders are even looking at this guy anymore. Most of the top tier teams have either no flexibility or desire to make this move. New York and Montreal maybe, but the Rangers might test the free agency market instead, and Montreal just sent away their two biggest bargaining chips. Plus I'm sure Murray would like to keep him out of the Northeast Division if at all possible. Chicago has cap room, but it seems like their main focus is locking up all their RFAs and Havlat, plus they can start negotiating with Kane and Toews this year. Really, the only teams that have alot of flexibility are the bottom feeder teams like LA and Edmonton. It'll be interesting to see where this ends up
gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 I'm going to test my Eklund influence again. About to send him http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/ccustance.tsn/194440/ suggesting Wings/Hossa deal not necessarily off. We'll see how long it takes him to say something or post it. You heard it here first...I'm about to become an insider!

Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Heatley does NOT waive NTC!! java script:AdClicked(clickLineVarName8326107352); http://tsn.ca/columnists/bob_mckenzie/?id=283382 Heatly is a ****** bag. First he backs his team into a corner by telling the public he's requesting a trade (and murdering his GM's pokerface). Then, when the Sens figure out a deal to accommodate him he says 'no, I wanna go to a better team'. ******. Canoe.

rage 24 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 http://www.talkshoe.com/talkshoe/web/webCl...shoe&cmd=wc I've tuned them out in recent minutes though. It was pretty funny for awhile but not they're just rambling. Hey, it's hockey talk at least. This link worded better. http://www.talkshoe.com/talkshoe/web/talkC...9244&cmd=tc Oh Heatley..... An agreed-upon deal that would have seen disgruntled Ottawa Senator Dany Heatley become an Edmonton Oiler in exchange for Andrew Cogliano, Dustin Penner and Ladislav Smid is on hold. There is some confusion surrounding a $4 million bonus that was to be paid to Heatley on July 1. Heatley's agent J.P. Barry told Sportsnet.ca late Tuesday night that "it is our position that the [bonus] deadline is not until [Wednesday] night. We believe the [trade] decision does not have to come until that time", said Barry. Speaking to Sportsnet, NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly agreed. "[Heatley] can be traded at any time. My view is obligation on signing bonus installment can be transferred any time up to midnight [Wednesday] night," said Daly. As far as the trade to Edmonton goes, the deal is not totally dead according to Barry. "Dany is going to sleep on it", said Barry. Heatley would not however commit to informing the teams ahead of Tuesday's 12 noon ET free agency period opening. Also, Barry stated that Heatley did not say no to the Oilers deal, but he has not said yes either.
arnoldbuck 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Until this whole s***ty situation, Heatley was one guy I wanted to see in a Wings uni. But after going public with it and putting him GM in a corner ... then furthering limiting the GM's options by handcuffing them by not waiving the no-trade clause. ... (even if Edmonton is a s***ty town to play in) ... just a dick move. I've lost a lot of respect for the guy. Glad he wont be in a Wings uni soon. Our organization and players display a level of class which he obviously just doesn't have.
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 No kidding; what a tool for making it known that he wants outta Ottawa - only to snub a young/improving team in Edmonton? He's really screwed himself. Maybe Pronger's wife got to him.
egroen 384 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Heatley's really making a lot of friends -- he should just go to the KHL.
rage 24 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Agree with you concerning the Habs...Why on earth did Gainey obtain Drury when he could've gotten an arguably much better player in Heatley for the same - if not less? EDIT - Jacques Martin? Actually they got Gomez.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Actually they got Gomez. They're almost interchangeable as grossly overpriced underperforming centers for the Rangers. Thank god for Kenny, eh?

russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 I think he is a primadona d-bag. You demand a trade and when one is lined up you dont waive your no movement clause...what an ass
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 I think he is a primadona d-bag. You demand a trade and when one is lined up you dont waive your no movement clause...what an ass The whole point of a NTC/NMC is that teams can't trade you or assign you wherever they feel like; it gives you a say in the matter. Heatley not waiving it probably means he didn't want to go to Edmonton. Did you not understand that?

Heatley not waiving it probably means he didn't want to go to Edmonton. Did you not understand that? The point is, it's classless. Heatley should have discussed this in house before announcing it to the world. If he had done so, he could have just told the GM that he would waive his NTC for certain teams and then he would have been spared this embarassment. Instead, he chose the ass way out. Probie 7 Report post Posted July 2, 2009 (edited) Looks like Heatley finaly agreed to go to Edmonton after all. A couple reports now say he decided to waive his clause.... would still like to see a couple more sources to be 100% sure... Edit: maybe I'll hold off on this one for abit...wait for multiple credible sources... Edited July 2, 2009 by Probie

miller76 463 Report post Posted July 2, 2009 Heatley just put himself, & Sens GM Murray into a corner. I think Ottawa should send him to the AHL next year, wipe that money off their payroll, and wait for the contract to expire. That will show him.
