The Chicago Blackhawks have signed bruising winger Danny Bois to a one-year contract.

The 26-year-old Bois ranked third on the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League with 149 penalty minutes. He also scored 12 goals in 66 regular-season games.

Bois appeared in one game with the Ottawa Senators in the 2006-07 season.

He'll aim for Ericsson, who can take care of himself. Will we have an answer for Eager?

Ericcson will have to take care of everyone unless we sign a free agent that can handle himself

I'm not sure he'll be on the Blackhawks this year but he's definitely a good guy to have in the system. I was really hoping the Wings might take a look at him. He's been incredibly consistent in the OHL/AHL putting up 20-30 points and 150+ PIM his entire life, hopefully he'll make the jump to the NHL sometime soon.

Our answer will be what it has been for years. Hope the refs throw Misconduct penalties our like cand, hide behind Linesmen when things get scary, turtle when the linesman fails to provide protection.

There's this Downey guy who isn't signed at the momment, Kenny oughta give hime a call....

Damn it! Danny Bois surely would have led the Blackhawks to a series victory over the Red Wings in the WCF.

Too soft. What are we going to do guys? We didn't have an answer for Bufuglien(sp?) in the post-season, and now we have to play against even more tough guys.

Top pick anyone?

This wussy Euro team just can't hack it against tough teams like Chicago. They bent over for Anaheim pretty good. I dunno. I bet the Wings finish 0-82.

This. Until we sign convicted felons, we'll never win a face off, let alone a game.

I agree. Byfuglein was a big reason Detroit lost to the Hawks in the postseason.

Oh wait....................

Oh wait....................

Byfuglien would have had his ass handed to him if he were in the league pre lockout...big and tough? only when defenseman these days cant clear the net like they used to be able to do

I amswered the poster's question. You sarcasticaly commented on my answer, but didn't answer the poster, or even address him at all. That's kinda rude. Being as you offered no answer, I'll assume that you have none and are so insecure about it that you seek comfort in belittling the oppinions of others.

I like how everytime a tough guy is signed, a thread instantly pops up on here containing the following things:

He would have fit in well here.

Why didn't we sign him?

Wake up Kenny!

This team is so soft.

Here's to missing the playoffs.

Sign Downey.

:ranting:

We need Moen, Grier or Betts.

Our goaltending sucks.

Everyone is getting better while we're getting worse.

Signing Downey won't keep Franzen from turtling, or guys like Samuelsson (yes I know he is on the Nucks) from hiding behind the linesmen.

And that won't keep agitators like Drapes and Maltby from being in the lineup either.

Besides, I thought the Wings problem in the regular season last year was defense, complacency, and goaltending?

And another thing, there isn't much to answer to the poster. The Hawks signed another player. Good for them. He didn't make a point regarding the Wings, or make any kind of statement other than the obvious "Player X was signed to Team Y".

Boy if we had a guy like Bois on our team, surely his overt physicality would've intimidated the Pens so much that they wouldn't have enough room in their bodies for their offensive talents, and players like Hossa and Datsyuk could've absorbed the offensive extract dripping all over the ice to put them over the edge and between their combined efforts score the one goal that the Wings were missing to put game 6 or game 7 of the SCF into overtime, where Dan Cleary would've scored the game-winner shortly after a pep-talk by none other than Danny Bois, or some other enforcer (they're well known for their pep-talk skills) that worst-GM-in-history Holland should've picked up at the deadline.

Without a solid enforcer, I just don't see the Wings getting a single second past game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Just won't happen.

I was answering the subsequent question "Will we have an answer for Eager?"

My answer was "nope, status quo"

I agree with you that signing Downey won't keep our other guys from doing as our other guys do. they're going to do their thing, he'll do his. I haven't often seen it argued that a toughguy will make us win more games or win the Cup - and yet that's the strawman that so many here sarcasticly respond to. Look at this thread alone. I take the time to respond to you because I think you're smarter than they are.

Now, I understansd that Wings' management is tasked with putting together a team that can win. They are also tasked with putting together a team that will enthrall it's fans and make money. Neither winning nor income have been real big problems for the wings in recent memory. It is my contention that dressing a toughguy durring the regular season will not result in less wins, but will likely result in even greater interest in the product. Downey has demonstrated that he is a popular player among fans. He has demonstrated that he will play for peanuts. He has demonstrated that he does not cost the Wings games when he is played. What's not to love?

This year will be violent. That is all I'm saying.

I'm hoping so. Looks promissing so far.
