Did we get fries with that???

Or did he come with the Happy Meal?

Chicken Mcnuggets actually. Like what I'm eating now. Oh, and with Faygo Red Pop. Be jealous peoples who no longer live in MI or have access to said beverage. Ha!

He's probably going to play the point on our second PP unit. Is he a top 6 forward? a third liner? a fourth liner? Is he going to be able to regain his scoring touch? Is he a solid two-way player!?

sorry...im not that familiar with him.

Starting new thread when sticky exists = fail.

Patrick Eaves is Lazy and He Sucks.

Well im sure if our GM has some trust in him, so should i. It is what it is.

my guess will be that he gets injured in his first ten games on some completely tame hit. search Youtube for Patrick Eaves and watch his player profile vid.... he gets injured on the weakest hit. Man up patrick.

Posting the exact same thing twice = fail.

It was warranted in both threads. One of the issues this board has is consolidation of discussion. Remember the 5 million Hossa threads when we lost? People start stupid threads, many of which zero to little substance, that are often duplicates of other discussion topics.

You fail!

so, i get vernors in WI

Yeah but that doesn't give you the awesome red tongue like red pop! :P

It's strange. I don't like vernors by itself but with other stuff, preferably with alcohol, it's pretty good. It sounds disgusting-And it did to me at first. But it's strange. I ended up liking it.

15 goals, 30+ points playing mostly on the 3rd line. Capable of more but that's probably more realistic.

He's too good to be a 4th liner, but probably not ready for top 6 minutes on this team. I really like his potential and absolutely love this signing.

stanley cup single-handedly from his wang

his wang has hands?!?! he must've come from dr. weird's lab!!

all kidding aside, this looks like it could be a good thing for us (as said before...IF he's kept of the point in PP and this doesn't split the twins), and for him. someone mentioned the possibility of being a "poor man's cleary"...of course, when we first got cleary he was his own poor man's cleary. now he's a man who gets his own poor man-self! mayhaps a few short years from now, we'll all be discussing the new signing, who could be the poor man's eaves...

i'm predicting 14-18 goals and 45-ish points. thats still massive improvement over his last season, but i'm not expecting him to suddenly turn it all around in his first year here. he'll make mistakes, we'll call him names and say awful things about him...and if he comes back for another season, it'll still happen that way, just a little less name-calling, a few less mistakes, and a few more points.

or, i just got overexcited by the fact that we actually aquired someone, and expect too much. gods damnit...can somebody invent a universe-remote so we can fast forward time to at least the exhibition games?

Walking in from last season, I wouldn't say he's too good to be a 4th liner. Potential wise, yeah he's got the potential to be a top six, but he'll have to earn every minute in Detroit. Not that that's a problem. Having to earn your ice time only makes you a better hockey player.

While he has a history of under-performing, Eaves is easily capable of putting up top-six numbers. Having said that, being a top-six player isn't what Holland was looking for in this signing, and shouldn't be expected. Holland wanted a defensive forward who can ease 3rd and 4th line liabilities from last season, as well as strengthen our penalty killing. That is what you can expect from Patrick Eaves. The fact that he shoots right, has top-six scoring potential, and comes at league min are all bonuses.

Williams and Eaves are both guys who can fill in on the top 2 lines during an injury (both have wicked shots, especially Williams), but I wouldn't expect to see them there long (with Williams staying in GR and Eaves on the bottom lines for depth).

If Williams signs for around $1 million he damn well better not be playing in GR. If we're going to sign someone we need to get value out of that wasted cap space.

if he's in grand rapids, he's not eating up any cap space...

I doubt he's going to be entrusted with second line scoring potential right out of the gate.

Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Cleary/Holmstrom

Franzen - Filppula - Cleary/Holmstrom

Leino - Helm - Eaves

Abdelkader/UFA - Draper - Maltby

that would be a sweet line

I think he meant Jeremy Williams, who is already slotted for GR but had a very solid season last year.
