Congratulations Detroit Red Wings, you have officially let every decent free agent for 2009-10 season that would offer an entertainment value, beyond Disney on Ice, to sign with other teams at bargain prices.

Oh wait, Ken Holland DID sign an enforcer for our 4th line... Welcome Mr. Jason Williams.

What a joke 2009-10 will be.

MARK MY WORDS... WATCH HOW EMPTY THE REGULAR SEASON WILL BE IN DETROIT THIS YEAR....

Hehe... Empty. Lets see... we have Pavel Datsyuk to watch all year. Henrik Zetterberg... Lidstrom... Kronwall... Ericsson... Leino in the full rotation. The Mule. Brad Stuart. Darren Helm for a full season. Not to mention a (hopefully) healthy Holmstrom. Flip getting big minutes. We get to see what Howard does with a full time spot. We get to see how Williams fits in. And we get to see how Eaves will contribute. Not to mention some new additions to the Black Aces that will see time.

Some of you people are so spoiled it actually disgusts me.

Maybe there are some things more important than entertainment.

Jason Williams isn't an enforcer.

What a joke 2009-10 will be.

Yeah, darn blasted I hate winning more than losing. You certainly don't have to watch if it's going to be such a joke.

Economic conditions also factor into this.

You want some cheese with that wine? You want some tissue as well? :crybaby: :violin:

E_S_A_D is right, we should have signed Floyd Mayweather during the offseason. That is the only way people can be entertained.

DAMMIT HOLLAND!

Clearly Kenny is vying for enforcers, just secretly. We should make a bet that the Red Wings sign an enforcer between now and the second coming of Jesus H Lesnar, the super enforcer/goon messiah. If you don't like my bet, we can compare the size of our wangs, or fight, or have our wangs fight each other. Here, take controller #2 and lets battle it out.

E_S_A_D even if you don't like how the team is build and has been for some years now you are very much free to go cheer for philadelphia or whatever. Support the team or leave.

I think he would have come to Detroit if Holland had put a similar offer on the table.

Probably. Not really the best move cap-wise for us given that Williams has already been signed though. We had to get extra offence from somewhere even if it is Williams.

I'm still convinced that Draper and Maltby are our supposed enforcers/grinders. Or at least those are the roster spots they're taking, they don't actually fill either of those rolls. I'm thinking that when they retire the 3rd/4th line roster spots opened up will allow for a little more grit. I don't think that Holland doesn't want those types of players, there just isn't the room right now.

For anyone who says there is the room (ie. the roster spots that were just filled by Eaves and Williams)...we still need skill too. We can't have more players with zero scoring ability on our third and fourth lines. Draper and Maltby fill the quota for incompetent offensive players IMO.

His contract has a no movement clause apparently. Kenny probably thought it was too much of a risk to hand that out to a guy who he isn't sure will fit in.

As long as ken holland is the GM you won't have a gritty team with 3-4 fighters it will be skilled but soft players that will play the 200ft game, simple as that.. so i don't understand why you whine.. just deal with it, he's the GM not you. And especially people born and raised in michigan you just gotta support the team or it would just be sad.

Havn't you got better things to be doing like predicting how the Wings will lose every single game and generally soaking in a bag of pessimism?

He's a big body that can skate, hit, handle the puck and fight. He could play on any of our 4 lines and fit in just fine. It's just frustrating!
