hockey23 79 Report post Posted August 13, 2009 I just heard John Vigilante got an invite. He wasn't great in the AHL last year, but I liked watching him on the Whalers. Does he have a shot for the 13th forward? Does anyone know of any other invites?

Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted August 13, 2009 I've heard of Chris Whitley, a minor league goaltender and Randy Cameron, a 2007 draft pick
Dimaline312000 51 Report post Posted August 13, 2009 It woldn't suprise me if they brought in a couple of IHLers from like Flint or Port Huron or maybe even Muskegon. They've done that the past few years. Last year it was Port Huron Ice Hawks Goaltender Larry Sterling and I think the year before that was Robin Big Snake which is going to pay for Muskegon this season but I'm not sure who he was with in 07 when he was at camp. I'm not saying that they will definetly invite players like that but don't be shocked if they invite a couple to a few of the lower level players up just to give them a look. Not that they would be too serious of contenders of making the roster but than again you never know.
Swayze 81 Report post Posted August 13, 2009 but I'm not sure who he was with in 07 when he was at camp. He played for Rockford IceHogs that year. I remember going to a Generals game where he got in a fight and knee'd someone in the back when they were on the ice.

egroen 384 Report post Posted August 14, 2009 they may miss his business because he has apparently been sober for a few years now... I respected his game on the ice, but man that guys is a dips***. I'll never forget him penning a ridiculous article in the Calgar Herald calling Datsyuk, and of all people - Lidstrom, "spoiled brats" and "wimps" over not showing up to the all-star game. eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted August 14, 2009 You an me both. I don't know that he's even doing well in Russia, but my info is out of date The latest info I have is that he's been playing on a checking line and doing fairly well in that role, although his scoring numbers obviously are not what we would be used to seeing. I have heard he is in better shape though. So at least seeing him in camp would be nice to see how he stacks up against real NHL-level competition would be nice. Guest micah Report post Posted August 14, 2009 Steelfist? Big Snake? J-Will? esteef Garth Butcher's name was pretty tough. Probably tougher than Garth Butcher was. He was very willing though, and had a long carreer with tons of fights, occasionally picking fights with people who he had to know would beat him. My kind of hockey player. Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted August 14, 2009 Randy Cameron (who the Wings declined to sign this year, making him eligible to enter the draft again or sign with another team) is expected to get an invite. The Wings are big fans of inviting kids who didn't get drafted or have been released by their original drafting teams. Nill calls them "bonus picks". I expect we'll see a few bonus picks at the camp this year.

Hopefully he'll get an invite, we'll see. There's still a lot of time to go before camp so we may see a lot of lower level players in TC.

Bulinwall35 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2009 Where did you hear that John Vigilante got invited to camp? The last I heard, he was loaned from the Syracuse Crunch to the Quad City Flames, but that was the last I had heard... It would be great to see him up in Traverse City, but is there any way to confirm this? Have the Wings listed their rosters anywhere for Prospects Camp?
