Will Zetterberg Score 40 This Year?

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

So looking back on the last number of seasons Henrik Zetterberg has put up some very solid numbers. This season was the first in four that he hadn't averaged a point per game or better. He has scored 40 in the past, which you can see, and has come close before as well. I think He'll be expected to to score more this season and playing with Datsyuk he should have all the opportunity in the world to post 40.

(year/team/games/goals/assists/points)

2005-2006 Red Wings 77 39 46 85

2006-2007 Red Wings 63 33 35 68

2007-2008 Red Wings 75 43 49 92

2008-2009 Red Wings 77 31 42 73

So what do you ppl think? WIll Zetterberg post a 40 goal season?

While we're on the topic, will Franzen get 40?

If he stays healthy and plays with Datsyuk then yes I think he will.

I'm calling it right now - bold prediction of the year:

with the increased role the top 2 lines will see due to loss of true goal scorers... and drum roll please...

We will have our first 50 goal scorer in years...

You think it'll be Zetterberg or Franzen? I think Zetterberg will crack 40 but I feel like Franzen will out score him

Not if Zetterberg has Datsyuk.

Franzen has no chance to reach those numbers with Filppula as his center... I'll be thrilled if he gets over 35.

The only shot Franzen would have of taking Z in points is if he smoked Hank in goals. Z's passing instincts are far superior to Franzen's and as a result the only shot he'd have of outscoring him would be if blows by Hank in the goal-scoring department.

I'm assuming he meant strictly goals. Anyways, If Zetterberg is with Datsyuk then he most likely scores 40 otherwise it seems unlikely.

I was talking about goals, not points.

I think it depends who's healthier - under the premise they both play all 82 games, I think Zetterberg does it before Franzen, just because he's got Dats setting him up... I still think Franzen could do it as well too though... people REALLY underestimate Fils play making abilities...

definitely just goals... I think all 3 - Z, Dats and Franzen will have 80+ pt seasons... yet again, assuming they all play all 82 games...

I dont know about Franzen getting 80 pts to be hoenst. He's not an assist machine by any stretch. If Franzen puts up his 40, say 45 for argument's sake he'd need 35 assists. He's never had more than 25 assists (last year) so that'd a tall order to fill.

I think Franzen ends somewhere in that 40 goals and 30 assists range for 70 odd points.

Z- Yes, has a lot of potential for 50 as long as Dats and himself stay healthy and play the majority of the season.

Mule- I would say low to mid 30's. Filp still has some work to do with his confidence with the puck and creating plays to help Franzen get the scoring chances hell need for 40. Not saying he wont perform this season, just sayin he hasn't reached full potential.

You can put chris chelios on datsyuks wing and he'd score 20 easily.. Z should have no problem reaching 45+ if hes healthy.

On a side note, i hope filppula spits out 45+ Assists this year, to go along with franzens 35+ Goals just to shut all the fil haters up. Hopefully fil gets off to an awesome start early in the season, and plays that way down the stretch as opposed to getting hot only towards the end of the year + playoffs like the past few years.

It's true. Fil is a proto-Datsyuk. He was showing some real progress in the playoffs, and I think if he's hooked to Franzen, they're both going to have phenomenal seasons.

My bold predictions...

Zetterberg- 41/40/81

Datsyuk- 35/68/103 (finally!)

Franzen- 40/31/71

Filppula- 22/38/60

Z heats up, I can see 50. First since Fedorov in '94, I think?

100% agree. I hope Filppula has his breakout year. I dont know that he'll ever become an absolutely stud but I do believe he'll be a 70 point guy in this league one day

Seriously how awesome would it be if those 4 players all played 82 games next season? Im not even talking about the points they'd put up.. but i remember 07/08 playoff after datsyuk came off a healthy full season he was just absolutely flawless and simply looked like a god playing against 16 year olds on the ice.. Im itching to see what other players could do if they got into that same kind of grove, heading into the playoffs that is if the league doesnt post a bull s*** schedule again and fatigue everyone out.

 I can't see a 50% increase in his output in just one year. That's miraculous.

Theres so many factors pointing to fil having a real break out season. And theres really nothing that says hes not capable of 60 points, except for his confidence issues... But after reading your countless posts disregarding filppula as anything more than an over-paid grand rapid griffin., theres no real point in ruining another topic..
