Forseberg with new comeback attempt?

I have no idea... who likes seeing stuff like that in hockey??

Did I say he wasn't talented?

I just said that he's a diving, cheapshot punk who doesn't know when to finally quit. Also, he think its funny to join a team in the middle of the season.

That vid directly contradicts the idea of him being a diver. Not that I have any clue why he's gotten that rep by some.

"Peter Forsberg Dive" gives one result on youtube:

As for the cheapshots, it's the same thing that all skilled players get accused of if they have a physical edge too. Datsyuk, Malkin, Ovechkin etc. have all been accused of it.

I don't give a damn about youtube, I've seen Floppa dive a zillion times. His reputation wasn't created out of thin air, you know.

Come now. Let's use logic here. If there's one thing that can give an accurate documentation of a player that was in his prime when the dancing baby was the main draw of the WWW, it's youtube.com.

Forsberg sucks and he always will. He will fail at this, just like he failed at having testicles.

While I'm not holding my breath on Forseberg making a successful comeback attempt, to say that he has always sucked is a pretty big load of bulls**t.

I laughed at this thread the first time I read it. Floppa, stay in Europe.

I don't care how bad the Avs are getting...

Apparantly Washington and Philly are the top two clubs on his list if the foot works this team and he can play. You can't tell me that Forsberg wouldn't be a pretty good replacement for Fedorov. What a team they would have. And Philly might actually be a contender if they added him.

Good quote from an interview in Aftonbladet today:

"-There are those who think I'm stupid and say I'll fail, but I don't give a damn about that. If I've made nine comebacks I might as well do ten. That's how it feels for me. I'm not trying to fool anyone and I don't know how it'll go this time. I don't have any big hopes on myself and I'm not trying to hide it."

Just saying, that if he's such a big diver it's weird that there's no video evidence of it. Besides, I've seen Forsberg play a zillion times and never noticed him dive. Although for a number of years he's had trouble with his foot, causing him to have balance and skating issues. Maybe some are confusing him simply losing balance with diving, I don't know.

You do know he's had like 17 surgeries on his foot? During his time with Philly, Nashville and the latest stint with the Avs he was not himself in terms of skating and he fell down a lot because of his foot. He probably had issues much earlier than that, but somewhere around the Philly time is when it got really bad.

And one of the reasons he's had so much injuries is because he played in a time where skilled players had to skate around with backpacks on them the entire games. Eventually that gets annoying so I'm sure he's gone down easy a few times to draw a penalty (just like so many players do, not only Crosby), but in general he's one of those players who rather stands up and tries to do something with the puck than to try and dive.

But I'm not expecting objectivity about a former Avalanche player on a Red Wings board, so whatever. Funny Red Wings fans are pretty much the only ones who are convinced he's a cheap-shotting, diving punk who "always sucked and always will"... Personally I have nothing but respect for most of the old Avalanche players, the only exception being youknowwho.

It's too bad injuries cut his career short because Forsberg was one of the best to ever lace skates. Period. As a Red Wing fan and a hockey fan, this much is fact.

I wouldn't mind seeing #21 in a Wings uni come April of next year at $750K/season. I'll tell you that much.

I don't know... it sounds sexy and all, but I fear that from April on would be frustrating. I just don't see him staying in any lineup for long.

Me too. I'd love to have Boyd Devereaux back.

French, good looking and was a great checker. He made that Hull and Datsyuk line go in 2002.

As long as you don't bring Bob Errey back into the discussion!! At least Boyd still plays!

You know, people might make fun of you for saying that, but watch some old clips people, Boyd hustled his ass off on that line, I mean, the guy played with no hesitation and 100% effort. I would have given blood for more of that kind of heart in the SCF this year. His job was to go in the corners, along the boards, in front of the net and fight for the puck and he never ever stopped. That is EXACTLY the kind of guy you need on a line like that and the current version of this line with the twins. That is what Homer cannot do and someone like Cleary could do.
