Ryno goes back to Sweden

Ryno

After leaving the Grand Rapids Griffins in midseason in 2007-08, Johan Ryno returned to North America this fall to give it one more shot. After attending training camp and playing through the preseason, Ryno is now back in Sweden ... which has to pretty much end his chances with the Red Wings.

I can't believe this guy, I thought he might actually stick with the Griffins and try to work his way into the NHL. Obviously not. Goodbye Johan, you certainly have potential, will be a late bloomer and potentially a very good one, but hard work isn't your cup of tea is it?

Good riddance.

He's been a promising prospect for quite some time now, but he is one of many in the Red Wings' system and will be forgotten as fast as you can say Igor Grigorenko. If he isn't willing to put forth the effort to get an opportunity to play for the best hockey team on the planet then he wasn't DRW material to begin with. This attitude, coupled with a very poor showing at camp almost ensures that this will be his last opportunity unless something drastic changes.

He didnt really impress me too much when I saw him on the ice this preseason. Hopefully the Wings just let him stay gone and dont give him another chance. We have other players who want to do the work and prove themselves and stay in our system.

What a fool. I can't believe he pissed this opportunity away. He won't get a second chance.

This was his second chance.

I am not too surprised after his off-season comments...

If your not willing to play AHL hockey and aren't as talented as Hank or Pavel...then get out Ryno

Guest Four

It's funny how well the ahl players played compared to him, yet he still didn't want to play there. NHL would be way to hard for this guy

I'm aware that he came and left in the 07-08 season. :P I'm talking about a second chance from an NHL standpoint.

this dissapoints me... for a guy that almost made the team outright after camp in 07, it's pretty pathetic that he isn't willing to pay his dues - guess he'd rather be a big fish in a little pond, it's too bad he didn't take a page from the Ericsson playbook and put in his time - coulda been on this roster full time by next season with a good showing...

makes me like Kindl even more, especially after your statement. He almost made the team out of camp too, but had to go through the OHL and now AHL. His interview he talks about how he wants to follow Ericssons path and understands THIS team won't just give you a spot. This is why Detroit is so good, they should just trade Rynos rights to Tampa bay or some other s***ty team that he will make out of camp and we get something for them.

He's not exactly a big fish in a little pond in Sweden either.

Better to find out now before we committed anymore development time/roster spot. I don't think there was a whole lot there with Ryno anyways he had the size and decent hands, but skated like a sloth.

This makes me sad.

"The potential, the potential! Wont somebody PLEASE think of the potential?"

This guy had some decent hands, and the big body. I dont know if its just because Im used to watching 2 extremely long playoff stretches or what, but that kid fled from finishing a check like antelope from a pursuing lion. We might as well as been playing on a circular rink, what with circles lacking the curious feature of corners.

This kid definetly plays like he has been on the big ice surface. Good hockey sense with passes and strategy, but knows little of the physical nature.

Imagine if he would had put the time in. Ahhhh... the lost opportunities.

This exactly. Filppula, Leino, Ericsson, Hudler, Helm, Kopecky, Quincey, Meech, Lebda... Need I go on? Fischer, Abdelkader, Howard... All these guys busted nuts. Sure, some are better than others, but they put their time in and look what it did.

F*** Ryno. Sorry to be blunt.
