This so-called anti-fighting poster just wants to add this quote

This has been the basis of this whole ridiculous, rumbling, boring, annoying argument. Do we want a player who can fight, a Darren McCarty or Martin Lapointe? Or do we want a fighter who can't play, a Brad Norton or Aaron Downey?

If you want the former, then you're labelled by the latter as "anti-enforcer", and a whole load of straw-men and tenuous arguments are invented to incessantly keep the argument ongoing. Alas, May can play 80 games this season and every win with him in the line-up will be constantly crowed over by certain members, and every loss without him in the line-up will be constantly raked over the coals by the same members.

Agree and so far so good for May.

Fun fact:

96/97 Stanley Cup winning goal - Darren McCarty

97/98 Stanley Cup winning goal - Martin LaPointe

Cheers! :D

This is why "crowds" suck. If May can do more than just fight, i.e. more than Downey or McCarty these last few seasons, I'm sure he gets more playing time and perhaps even in the playoffs. The same happened to Drake a few seasons ago, and to other Wings guys previous who would drop 'em once in a blue moon. Why does there need to be a crowd to take a side on things? Sides are for chumps.

Hey, enforcer threads are definitely not boring. If you took the time to read through them, you'd quickly see that there is lots of fun and creativity in those threads.

I think that 4th line toughs who can play are overrated. I'd rather see our hot-s*** young developing 3rd liner double shift and play with the 4th line too while we sit a tallentless thug on the pine until you need someone's head broken than get an almost tought guy who can skate with our 4th line.

If Holland would return my calls I'd explain it all to him. I think he has my number blocked, I was pretty hard on him after he picked up Corey Cross.

Yeah, in most of my posts, doubleshifting is all I talk about.

May continues to look like a solid signing for $500k...every time he was on the ice he finished his checks, he had a couple of close scrambles in front of the net, and wasn't a defensive liability at all. There's no reason he couldn't play 4th line minutes throughout the entire season. I'd actually like to see the 4th line continue as it was in the lineup yesterday, Eaves didn't make a huge impact but he had energy and when he was on the ice I always noticed him. Did I mention how awesome it is not having Kopecky in the lineup anymore?

What do people think of his taking of the number 24? I know that some have suggested that it should not be worn for the next few seasons out of respect to Chelios. The fact that May called and asked him, combined with the fact that Cheli wasn't a regular player for us at all towards the end of his time here doesn't make me feel that May is out of order doing that...
