We would have probably won last night has May been penciled in as the 2nd shootout guy.

MAy beat up Cody Mcleod so bad that Cody got confused and thought he was a good hockey player. I bet he has a concussion.

Koci was ducking May all night, that's to bad, because I suspect a beatdown of Koci could have really sparked the team.

May continues to look like a solid signing for $500k...every time he was on the ice he finished his checks, he had a couple of close scrambles in front of the net, and wasn't a defensive liability at all. There's no reason he couldn't play 4th line minutes throughout the entire season. I'd actually like to see the 4th line continue as it was in the lineup yesterday, Eaves didn't make a huge impact but he had energy and when he was on the ice I always noticed him. Did I mention how awesome it is not having Kopecky in the lineup anymore?

How many goals did he score? How many assists? We can't afford guys that don't pull their own weight. Sure, it's exciting to watch fights, but he needs to be smarter about when to fight. Last night all the fight accomplished was firing up the guy that he was fighting.

And incidently he is a -2 so I think that the jury is still out on if he is a defnesive liability.

We don't need another Aaron Downey who contributed nothing but fights.

And with that completely ignorant statement my ignore list has found another user.

Theres a reason the 3rd and 4th lines are generally referred to as checking lines. They're not goal scoring lines especially in this cap era. For 500 k a year what do you expect? 30 goals? That was a retarded statement on your part my friend.

So you dig up my old post from a week ago because of last night's game? How many goals has Datsyuk scored? Is Ericsson a defensive liability at -3? Kronwall at -4? Give it a rest dude...

$500k for a year puts May in the exact spot he is supposed to be in. He's not a playmaker or a sniper. He brings some energy, puts some people on their asses and drops the gloves once in a while. If he was signed for 2 mil a year, I might be having some of the same thoughts, but we get what we pay for.

Someone needs to explain hockey to Chrisdetroit. It's really simple: team plays bad hockey= more "-" than "+". UkWing, I also added Chris to my ignore list. I can take the anti-tough crowd, but posts like that with unfound and irrational data is too comical and not worth my 2 seconds to read.

I'm one of the anti-goon crowd (I like grit, not goonery) and I was heavily against the signing of May because he is/was a dirty dirty player, and just going off that I didn't want him, BUT, he has impressed me more in the handful of games I've seen him in than Downey ever did. So as it stands, this has been a better signing THUS FAR, than the Eaves signing to me at least. May = :)

I thought the May/AppleFritter/Helmer line was AWESOME last night.

I was concerned for Mickey's health, he was so excited during the fight, and I can't blame him: it's good to see a guy that will stick up for Fritters and Helmers, so they can run whoever they want. Great stuff!

I'm so happy AppleFrotter caught on. Now all I need is for everyone to start calling Byfuglin, Butt-Muffin haha

Well hold on now....I wouldn't say I'm pro-enforcer, I'm pro-enforcer who can also play hockey ;) Which May seems able to do, plus he's impressed me more as a fighter than Downey did, but maybe I just had too much Hatred for Downs.

Downey is a far better fighter than May.

I doubt you were singing the same tune when Babs and Holland made the "powerplay is our enforcer" statement.

I believe you would have said something along the lines of "Coaches and GMs are not infallible."

They were bluffing, hoping to convince our enemies that gooning it up against us would backfire on them, and that our powerplay was strong enough to keep the meanies at bay. It was a fine bluff and worked well enough for a time, but now that teams have caught onto the fact that our powerplay is a paper tiger, they're back to bullying our fragile weaklings. That's what they told me, anyway.

No need to be upset just because your anti enforcer self has to watch a fighter play a regular shift on the wings now.
