Don't know why you'd put Bert on line one instead of Homer, he's a pylon like Homer but he has no redirection skill.

Oh, he's also slower and lazier than Homer, which is like a world record.

You are silly.

Where the hell were you when they played the Caps? Being at the game, Bert looked really good out there with Hank and Pavs, and if he keeps it up on the backcheck like he has been then that first line is gonna be even harder to score on.

Yes, really. Washed-up Bert is a better player than washed-up Homer.

I am confident that Bert will prove to be a good fit on that 1st line. I am far less confident that Homer is good enough to do any good on that 3rd line.

Are you just hating? Holmstrom can barely skate.

seriously... is this the twilight zone? I need to keep going back and checking when this thread was made... it's like some others said, it's like the Wash game never happened

The lines looked great together on Sat and I think they should stay that way until they stop working.

Also, I was not a fan of Bert signing here in the off-season, but he's been defensively responsible and looked the quickest he has in years out there so far and seems to gel with Pav and Hank very well.

I still like Cleary up with the twins, but Bert works too.

Considering the offseason and now the Franzen injury, that's actually a pretty solid top 6 that I think can do some nice things for us. Getting production out of the 2nd line is always the big concern when you put Z and Dats together, and I think we'll get that. Certainly more than in the first couple games with the 2nd line anyway.

It's not interesting, it's genius.

These lines worked really well against the Caps. I want to see if they continue to play smart defense and play with some heart in their next few games before I get TOO excited, but these lines worked perfectly.

I just feel bad Maltby has to sit, because he didn't play badly at all, but I do like what May brings to the lineup, and we'll see if Eaves can make anything happen.

First, shame on whoever called Homer lazy. He's a lot of things, but lazy isn't one of them.

Second, Bertuzzi is not a 'tough guy.' Stop saying that. He plays like a 160lb-er since the incident.

Third, I don't like the new lines, because - as others have said - #1) Bert has the skills to contribute on another line, homer doesn't. #2) Bert isn't as talented in front of the net.

The only reason I do like it - it keeps homer fresher for the pp...it gives pav and hank a capable third play-maker.

agreed, bert got some chances and created some chances on that line... The Abdelkader line looked decent too i thought.. Although Homer is slow, he makes good breakout passes, and offensive zone passes to create scoring chances... Th only other option would be to switch Bert and Homer... that would work well too

I like it because Abdelkader and Williams aren't really threats to score 5 on 5 either. I'd rather see those guys bang around out there and try and punish people instead of trying to score.

Williams is such a punisher that I suspecta handful of teams will forfeit games, just because nobody is willing to go on the ice against him.

Bert plays like a 160 pounder? Very stupid comment. Guys a freight train compared to any of our other forwards pretty much. Maybe if you said this about Franzen I could take you seriously but not Bert. I hate how people already have Bertuzzi written off already he deserves that top line spot way more then Homer does and can stick up for the twins if need be.
