I miss Conks

I hate to tell you this but I miss having Conks back there. He's a solid backup. His absence is another reason why its gonna make it tougher on the Wings this season. Howard has to prove alot yet. Not that I don't think he will.

Conks gets his 1st shutout against the Ducks no less.

I've said numerous times that losing Conks was really a big loss. Bigger than Hudler, bigger than Sammy, maybe almost as big as losing Hossa. Having two solid goaltenders just makes the whole team more confident. I think the team doesn't have very high trust on Howard right now. When Conks was here, you could always pull either him or Ozzie to wake up the team. Now, if Howard doesn't start improving and gaining this teams trust it'll be a big problem. If the team doesn't trust the guy in net they won't be able to play normal game because they think too much about goalie and if he can me the saves.

Who are you? Me?? What you said... all true.

Hoping the rest of the team gets it going soon. It's a blow losing Lilja and Mule, though. Goalies need to step up and play better, knowing the team needs them.

Conklin was not going to stay with the salary that Detroit could give him, and there was no way they were going to lose Howard for nothing after all the work they put into him.

Please move on with your lives. Conklin is gone. There was no way Detroit was going to keep him. End of story.

As Holland has said, we needed to see what our young goalies can do. He said look at the ages of Osgood and Conklin, when Osgood's contract is up. He knew we need to figure out our long term goaltending. With the cap, you can't keep bringing in free agents all the time.

They should have resigned him, instead going after Eaves and maybe even Bertuzzi. they're ? on defense to me even if Bert has made a few good plays. Williams is proving to be working out.

That would not be fair to Conklin or Howard. Our luck, we'd lose Howard and develops into a solid #1 that would make Patrick Wah blush by making his tremendous saves.

Conks is gone (and rightfully so), people need to move on and stop dwelling on the past. Holland is thinking beyond the 2009/10 season, he's looking to the future of the Red Wings. Conks deserves his chance -- though he could be another Legacy (which I think he is).

Hardly is Conklin another Legacy, especially in the pathetic whiney wuss department. Conklin was solid and I'm sure he will do well. As for letting go, sure. I'm not pining for Conklim, Legacy or Dom, but we are in deep doo doo in the goalie department. Enough with the training wheels, Howard has to be an NHL goalie or fade away, quickly.

O'really? How is his playoff record...?...oh wait. So the fact is you don't know s***--nobody knows how'd he fair in the PO. Why didn't you just say that instead of blowing smoke out of your ass like you know something more than the anyone in the entire galaxy. Unless your name is really "Nostradamus" and you're 507 years old, then STFU--you're hardly anyone special.

I really hope that Howard works out, but if he doesn't I would like to trade Howard, Meech, and maybe Lebda to St. Louis for Conklin. Maybe St. Louis will be kind and help us out!

What, another infant posting on the forum. FYI, if I could blow smoke out of my anal cavity, that would make me very special, from a medical research point of view.

Now matter how Conklin would or wouldn't do in the playoffs, he wouldn't have whined to the press about killing himself. I was a huge Legace fan for a long time and even argued for many seasons to give him a shot in the playoffs. Well he got it, but then he completely blew it. And then, instead of having any integrity, he blabbered to the press like some depressed housewife on the Dr. Phil show. It was pathetic. If you like your hockey players to be whining wuss bags, that's your thing. Some guys are into that more feminine side of hockey, so I can see why you reacted in such a shrill manner.

Exactly. That ship sailed. People are already grasping at straws to find an excuse for the Red Wings being mortal like every other team.

well regular season..he just doesnt seem as sloppy as ozzie can be.

didnt get a chance in the playoffs.

Unless he could have taken the Wings to the cup it doesn't matter.

Osgood did as well as a goaltender could do without winning it. And he was the reason Detroit even made it that far.

I'm sure if Conkin was here and was playing last Saturday the Wings wouldn't have shut down in the 3rd and wouldn't have had that terrible line change that caused the 3rd Avs goal. Osgood hasn't started well but it's far from his fault, especially this last game.
