10/29 GDT: Red Wings 5 at Oilers 6, (SO)

Wasn't it in February that they went on that horrible 9 game winless streak? Right around the time that Lappy hurt Lidstrom during that Colorado game.

Yes it was, but the Wings all banged up and losing, still played hard, and battled hard. This team isnt doing that, and there all healthy, it's just frustrating.

Are Zetterberg, Datsyuk and Holmstrom even in the line up tonight? I haven't heard their names and I sure haven't seen them contribute.

Hang in there, Jimmy. This is not on you. You have no team in front of you, and the Oils know it.

I thought the Oilers were the team that was flu bitten I would never have guess that from that 1st period display by the Wings.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Several of their important players are out, and yet they're having their way with the Wings. Makes you think what's going on in that room.

does anyone else agree that the May, Helm, Eaves line has been the only line doing anything out there?

we really need to get this goaltending thing dealt with...bring up Larsson and see what happens...Howard does not look like he is ready to play

I still think the Wings will get it together after that terrible period and come out flying and win this game

Defense is the problem. Too many high quality chances.

He made 2 big saves before giving up that first goal. When the goalie has to make big saves 20 seconds in the game you know it's going to be a looonnnngggg night.

He's better than you though. ;)

He's playing well, and saving the first shot.. It's the defense that arn't clearing rebounds.

Very true - but I am not the one making six figures to stop a puck.

I agree, everyone has played bad. But stopping 9 out of 12 ain't going to cut it. Flat out - especially for a guy who has been dubbed the "next goalie", so much so that we f*cking let a guy who won 25 games for us last year.

Hell, there are a handful of goalies who have a better SV% in shootouts then what Howard is offering us.

What do you people expect our goalies to do when they have no team in front of them????????

Just saying...

I've never been one of the negative people when it comes to Osgood but I have been quite questioning of Howard in the last year or so.

That said, I actually think he's been alright so far this year and deserving of the chance to be an NHLer.

But Howard and Osgood can only do so much. They're going to give up soft goals sometimes because EVERY GOALIE DOES. But you can't blame them for giving up a ton of goals when they get next to no help on defense from this team lately.

Edit: When I say never one to be negative, I mean never one to be negative for the sake of being negative, like most people on LGW's...

We let that guy go because of salary, simple as that.

It is amazing it has to be spelled out for you. Also, Howard was maybe at fault for the third at best. Defense needs to act like it is getting paid roughly half the team salary.

Anybody directly blaming Howard for this is pathetic and a poor, sad excuse for a Wings fan and should probably put on the Leno show or give up on life.

Rebound control is horrible and his movement is unstable if it wasn't for him we would be down 10 to nothing. It's not all his fault but his play isn't above average at all.

Well, one can only hope that Babs ripped them all a new ******* in the room during the break. This kind of play has to stop.

I've really been questioning his coaching since TMac left. He was out coached by Dan Bylsma for christ sakes.

Hell, even 1/4 would be better than right now.

If Babcock is at fault for anytihng, it's for not pushing for the removal of what's his face, the defensive coach.

Can't see the game because ADthe sucks, but it sounds like our defense is working themselves out of a job this season.

Adthe.net is really dropping the ball lately. Functioning feed anyone?

Can't find one. I'm opting out of viewing this game too as it's a hassle to find a stream and we've sucked, so it's not worth the time. Goodnight

How do you figure?

Pittsburgh had a plethora of talent wasting away on Therrien's system. They could have hired ******* Dave Lewis and they would have a similar record.

What is a matter with you folks? Why cant you admit that Howard is not good. This doesn't mean that he is the only bad player on the ice.

You are also wrong about goalies. Look at Craig Anderson - stopped 48 of 49 shots to get his team the win. Can you imagine if there were 50 shots on either of our goalies? Oh my god - but of course it wouldn't be the goal stoppers fault, hell no - it would be Rafalski, Stuart, etc.

This has to stem from not having really stellar goal tending for a good couple years now - at least in the regular season that is. That is the only thing I can think of that would cause this laughable refusal to admit Howard blows.
