It gets worse and worse. Bring on Shanny, we need some goals, I'd love for Tardif and Newbury to come up and add some sandpaper, but jesus. Without Flip, Leino's useless, and no Williams and Franzen to go along with that, Cleary, Bertuzzi, Eaves, Helm these are the guys that have to pick up the slack, but unless Bertuzzi starts getting some puck luck, we need outside help.

We lose Hossa to sign Franzen. Franzen is injured.

We replace Sammy with Williams. Williams is injured.

We replace Kopecky with Eaves/May (take your pick). Eaves and May are both injured.

We lose Hudler and expect Filppulla to take a bigger role. Filppulla is injured.

If we trade Lebda away for someone else, I promise you that person will end up with a broken clavicle before his 10th game.

10 games? I think that has the possibility of still being a good trade!

Yes we could...but who would you do that with that makes enough money and you don't care if somebody claims them.

Satan again comes to mind. He's not great but at the rate of our decently-long-term injuries I'd say he's worth pulling the trigger on, and if he gets picked up by someone when Williams/Filpulla/Franzen returns I wouldn't exactly be too heartbroken over it

tbtphbpthbh, never mind, then.

I knew this was going to happen. This team is having a hard enough time winning games when we had Filppula and Williams and now we dont have them and we arent going to do anything to replace them. We cant just say Oh We Have to Play Better Defensively...and be done with it. We need some help in the scoring department and some help in the Lebda-not-playing-anymore department.

Holland has stated that the Wings will NOT call anybody up as an injury replacement for Williams. Until the next player gets hurt it appears that Derek Meech is the 7th defenseman/13th forward yet again.

I hope no one is surprised by this.

This forces Babs to put Leino on the 2nd line with Hank and Cleary. I expect that line to be awesome. I don't know why Eaves was scratched in the Leafs game, because his line with Drapes and Helm is the bomb. And now we'll carry an enforcer (May) in every game, so all the fighting-fans should be pleased.

Williams injury is NOT going to bring this team down. In fact it might be a good thing, as long as everyone else stays healthy for the time being.

Eaves was out because he was injured, but it's only a minor injury and I think he was just resting his ankle. Hopefully Leino will do well if he's bumped up but he's been so ineffective I'm not sure he has heart enough to make things happen out there.

This really sucks...the season is getting along now and the team seems to be stuck where we are. We certainly can't get any substantial streaks going due to constant injuries and half-assed play, which means we're not going to make much ground against higher seeds unless they have massive losing streaks.

We may actually see this team struggling for a 7th or 8th seed...bizarre.

This would be a surprising development if there were offensive players ready to make the leap to the NHL but quite frankly, there isn't really a forward capable of making an impact on the top lines.

A little adversity never hurt us in Februaries past, shouldn't hurt us in November either.

In that February when half our defense was injured, we were way ahead in the standings. Not where we are now. Besides when that happened we lost like 10 out of 11 games and were still on top. We arent on top right now, so its a much more difficult situation.

Leino doesn't deserve top six minutes with the effort he has put out, but he almost has to play there by default now. I wouldn't mind giving Eaves a shot with Cleary and Z if Leino doesn't work, which will probably be the case. This is Leino's chance to prove he can contribute offensively at the NHL level. If he can't get going playing with Z, then it will never happen.

That had damn well better mean that there is about to be a trade or a signing.

If this team can go on 3-game winning streaks (like they had before the Leafs game) every now and then and not have any big losing streaks in between, they'll be fine.

It does not...

Leino to take Willy's place

Bertuzzi-Datsyuk-Holmstrom

Leino-Zetterberg-Cleary

Eaves-Helm-Draper

Maltby-Abdelkader-May

Will be the lineup until further notice.

This is just getting utterly hideous. One more serious blow to the top 2 lines and it could end up being a scary finish.

Now if Leino can't score with Hank as his centerman.....Time to head back home to Finland.

I dont see Cleary or Bertuzzi getting a lot of goals on Zetterbergs line so why is Leino expected to be any different? Our 1st PP unit is our best line right now. No one else is getting much done in the scoring department. It isnt just Leino that isnt scoring, so why is everyone jumping on him so fast? Both Cleary and Bertuzzi have played with Z and both have 2 goals. Leino has gotten 2 goals as well, so where is the difference here? I think Leino has had a lot of solid chances but he has gotten the short end of the stick so to speak. Its not him not trying, its him not being able to create the space he needs to knock a few in. I dont know what Cleary and Bertuzzi have to use as excuses.
