Hack & Whack Rule! 160 Report post Posted November 10, 2009 A new, rather large, lake is forming somewhere in Texas. Yzerman's speech has brought a tear to Chuck Norris' eye.
stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted November 10, 2009 (edited) A new, rather large, lake is forming somewhere in Texas. Yzerman's speech has brought a tear to Chuck Norris' eye. always a humble, class act - the greatest captain in NHL history and one of the greatest players as well... Just once for laughs, I want to see him go up on the podium and say "I'm the greatest", then drop the mic and walk off the stage with his arms in the air, haha would never happen, but it would be so out of character it would be hilarious Edited November 10, 2009 by stevkrause
Dimaline312000 51 Report post Posted November 10, 2009 Congrats to all the Inductees of the 09 Class in the Hockey Hall of Fame. Especially Steve Yzerman. He was a great captain and great player for us and I'm truly honored that I was able to get his autograph. He definetly deserves this honor. Great Job Stevey Y!! VladyIBELIEVE16 257 Report post Posted November 10, 2009 This is better feed http://www.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?catid=-3&id=51064 The man is so ridiculously humble. He was the exact same way at his retirement ceremony. God love him!

Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted November 10, 2009 No, God is Steve Yzerman's biggest fan. That's about the truth of it. Normally I hate it when people elevate athletes to god-like or mythical stature only because you're giving them a position they don't deserve. They're just guys and girls paid to play a sport. Steve is different. I can't think of anyone else in any other sport who is so universally loved and admired, even by fans of rival teams. Maybe Lou Gehrig, but he's been gone for 68 years now. I miss him. Even though our team is hardly s***, we could use someone like him, just sitting in the locker room.
Donaldjr2448 43 Report post Posted November 10, 2009 All of the speeches were excellent! Lucky Luc's was one of the best. Seeing his Father crying in the front row and just how inspirational his speech was. Stevie Y's speech was Stevie being Stevie!! He is the best and always will be the best! I still don't think he gets the credit he deserves, but if Team Canada wins the Gold, he will finally get the attention he deserves. Although we all know he wouldn't want the attention! It just amazes me how humble this guy is! How many Captains would have given the Cup to their Coach to skate around the ice first?? Not many! But Stevie did!! Its the little things he did that make him the person that he is!!

Of course it would never happen though. Edited November 10, 2009 by Jaymister
AtomicPunk 296 Report post Posted November 10, 2009 Watching the speech and hearing the little catch in his voice when he spoke about his daughters and his wife made me choke up. You can tell he really loves his family and it's a great thing to see. Stevie is my hockey hero. I can't think of a better guy to emulate.
Inultus 12 Report post Posted November 10, 2009 Stevie is very well-spoken. Interesting how many hockey players seem to speak more intelligently than athletes in the other pro sports.
Hossa's Heroes 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2009 Stevie is very well-spoken. Interesting how many hockey players seem to speak more intelligently than athletes in the other pro sports. This is true. I've noticed that hockey players tend to thank their teammates, linemates, coaches, etc. more than players of other sports do also. Congrats Stevie Y! Noone deserves all the accolades more than you do.
