titanium2 867 Report post Posted March 14, 2010 Aww, no spazzy Eaves pic, but oh well. Still a sweet goal by him.
NGKEIB 32 Report post Posted March 14, 2010 While it is great to get goals out of Eaves, what I like the most is that in Helm-Eaves and Miller-Maltby/Filppula we have two great dedicated penalty killing tandems that let us save our more offensively gifted players (Zetterberg and Datsyuk obviously, but also Cleary and Franzén) for even strength and PP time. titanium2 867 Report post Posted March 16, 2010 Hahaha. Watch this clip and at about 50 seconds in you see Patrick Eaves jump higher than anybody else on the Red Wings bench after Homer scored last night. He's very noticeable but just in case, I should tell everyone that he's slightly towards the middle of the bench but more towards the left. I've gotta make a gif of this somehow. http://redwings.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?hlp=8460743&event=CGY448

I watched the game highlights on NHL.com and I noticed that too. He's awesome!!! How good is he on the PK? Amazing.

titanium2 867 Report post Posted March 19, 2010 http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2010/03/patrick_eaves_shot_blocking_co.htmlStepping in the way of a 100 mph shot to kill a penalty is a tough, unpleasant task, to say the least. That's not the way Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Eaves sees it, though. "Oh, it's fun. I enjoy it," Eaves said. "It hurts, but it's fun. You get satisfaction along with pain at the same time. It's a crucial part to winning games." ... "The more I kill penalties, I enjoy it," Eaves said. "It's a lot of fun getting in the way of the other team's power play." Getting drilled with pucks comes with the territory. "They don't feel good. That's the way it is, it's a part of killing penalties," Eaves said. "You try to get as much padding in the way as possible. With the way guys shoot now, so hard, it goes right through. Hopefully, it just grazes off you and deflects into the corner and you don't eat it straight on. Those ones tend to leave bigger welts." Eaves' commitment to blocking shots is contagious. "Patty's probably one of the best shot blockers I've seen as a forward, how brave he is getting in front," Helm said. "He blocks a lot of big shots. He's been hit hard, but he just keeps getting in those lanes."
titanium2 867 Report post Posted March 20, 2010 Plays hard, sacrifices his body, gets injured and the team doesn't even reward him for it.
bdavis 28 Report post Posted March 20, 2010 Anybody know if the "upper body injury" he suffered was serious? Must not have been too bad, since he scored. Unless he was injured worse after the goal. BTW, Eaves is now 6th in team goals, 2 behind Cleary.
titanium2 867 Report post Posted March 20, 2010 Eaves (head) taken out as a precaution, not sure of his status for Saturday. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2010/03/red_wings_patrick_eaves_head_t.htmlHe basically said he had his bell rung and they decided to play it safe by pulling him from the game after the second period. He said it's too early to tell if he'll be available for Saturday's game in Vancouver. “I didn’t see who hit me (it was defenseman Aaron Johnson) Collision at the blue line,'' Eaves said. “I talked it over with Piet (trainer Van Zant). I was a little bit off there. We thought it was necessary to play it safe.’’ Asked if he has a concussion, he said, “I think it’s just precautionary.’’
8 Legged RedWing 367 Report post Posted March 20, 2010 This guy is becoming one of my unsung heroes of the team. I just love to watch him play on the PK and when he gets his chances he can bury them. I hope it was just a precaution that they took him out of the game and would love to see him play tomorrow.

I hope it was just a precaution that they took him out of the game and would love to see him play tomorrow. I love Eaves, he has become one of my favorite players on the team. The joy that is on his face whenever he or one of his teammates scores is so adorable. I hope that he will be a Red Wing for a long time. I hope that he won't be out for very long because the team needs him on the PK.
