Maple Leafs vs Wings postlockout

Did you know we're 1-3 against the Leafs since the lockout? We haven't beaten that s*** team since 12/09/2006  They're one reason we're not in 1st place at the moment. That 5-1 loss last week still pisses me off! 2pts stolen from us and the western conference. And the fact we haven't beaten them in over 3 yrs pisses me off even more. WTF?? Why do they have our number?

I still remember the loss against them in the first nhl game last season. this team was so hyped coming from a stanley cup victory and adding a player like hossa. then BAM - outplayed and beaten by the leafs. not that it was a huge deal but that game got stuck in my mind..

These games against Toronto would have had a different outcome if they were played in the month of March instead of Oct./Nov. The wins by TO are pretty meaningless for a so-called rivalry when the teams are at opposite ends of the standings.

I hate to say it but the game the other night and the game last year.... we just got thoroughly outplayed by them.

But yeah, it pisses me off too... Wouldn't the wings be on a 7 game win streak if we had won that? Grrrr useless frustrations..

Yeah, 1-3 in such a long time isn't a good record. But aren't you missing something more significant here?

The Wings have only played the Leafs FOUR TIMES in four seasons! I hate the divisional structure Bettman has encouraged. It makes no sense that a team 4 hours away (and a HISTORIC RIVAL, too!) is played against much less than a team 30+ hours away. I think the Wings record would be much better if they got to play more than once a season on average.

too bad they suck against every other team in the league. They beat us 5-1 and people start saying "Oh with Kessel and the Monster, they're invulnerable." 3 game losing streak. They blow.

yup another thing that pisses me off is that they lose the next game and haven't won since which makes it all the more glaring that they have our number for some reason. :ranting: And yes we should have another game against them at the Joe. It's stupid we've only played them only once every year judging from the history between the 2 teams.

Eh, I still <3 the Leaves... They are an Original 6 team...

What it comes down to is they wanted the W more - the Wings did not show up when we played them, simple as that.

To be fair to TO at the time they beat the Wings this year they weren't that far down in from the Wings in the standings. :P

Well when you sit with 3-4 fellow LGW Members @ Bar/Grill, watch the team just not put any effort, and everyone at the table agrees, then Babs should be angry with his team.

Well the Wings happen to have the longest travel schedule (in total distance) in the NHL, so sending them to a team that's only 4 hours away just wouldn't keep that record in D-town.

Think "post lock-out" Drake, think "post lock-out."

BTW, the first question I always ask a Leafs fan is Who do you cheer for in the playoffs?

Who gives a s*** really. The Red Wings f*** the dog hardcore when playing the Leafs, and it really shows. Take last game for example. 5-1. They clearly did not show up for this one. Why they do this? No idea. Maybe they are being paid by the league to toss games against Toronto to make them look good or something.

Some teams just do. It can't be figured out or explained, and it's not really worth trying to figure out.

It is annoying that you can never 'count' on the Wings to beat a lowly opponent during the regular season - They really seem to play to their competition at times and I would not be surprised if their record against -.500 teams is the same, if not worse, than +.500 teams.

Ok, I just looked it up - last year they won over 70% of the time against the top 10 ranked teams in the NHL.

They only won 60% of the time against the bottom ranked 10 teams and 65% against middle-ranked teams.

They literally play better as their competition increases.

I was thinking about that the other day. It sucks but you can't explain it. Some teams just paly better or worse against certain teams. My alma mater EMU sucks at football and yet the last 5 seasons, before this one, was 4-1 against CMU who was winning bowl games during that time. The TO loss doesn't bug me as much as the Blues games to start the year do. They had a nice grip on both of those games and let them slip away. Against the Leafs they were just outplayed and beaten. It happens. And it's the past. The team is 7-1-1 in their last 9 now I think? And this is without Franzen, Fil and Williams.
