cjm502 165 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 It would be interesting to see how many goals have been waived off or called back against the wings in like the last 2 years including playoffs. Then compare that to the rest of the teams in the league. I think we'd win by a landslide. Oh for sure. I think it is a fact that the league hates Homer, nothing ever goes his way although Cleary was the one with GI tonight.
zettie85 106 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 (edited) Everyone else is just complaining. Look the wings have been on top for some many years and a year like this was expected. WE were told to lower our expectations and this is why. With the combination of the offseason and the injuries this season is not going to be good, and you need to get your head out your butt if you think this Wings team is going to contend for a cup. Touche. I thought you meant giving up on the Wings completely. Although we do control the play most nights. If we fix turn overs and then get some guys back we won't be bad. It leaves hope for some of us. Edited November 28, 2009 by zettie85
Hockeytown_Ryan 122 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 it was an answer, and the answer was yes. Because it's his damn job to be ready for it. so no matter how many times a team scores on its self Its the goalies fault? OK whatever! you got it

Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 Fans of every team think they've been screwed over by officials more than most. Detroit has had a few choice calls go against them, but it's not like over the last few seasons they've gotten regularly screwed. Detroit certainly gets away with its fair share of would-be penalties, but I was referring to goals being waived off. I'd be shocked if Detroit didn't have the most goals waived off in recent years. But I have realized this year is just one of those down years, and as fan there is nothing I can do to change it. Pucks 66 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 Better yet, why don't you watch some other hockey games. Ones for teams you don't care about so you can have a dispassionate view of the game. Watch the defense, the goaltending, etc. Then come back and hopefully you'll have something to add to the conversation other than appearing just to rip on goaltending. Ozzy has not been good, but to just blame him is grossly oversimplifying it. I like to rip on our terrible starting goltender. You like to defend him, so were gonna have this fun all year long. I watch 5-7 non Wings games per week. Let me know if you get sick of the beach ball pic because I've got a lot of other ones.

sureWhyNot 19 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 (edited) I cannot see all the Ozzie hate here. The first goal was on the defense. When you have 4 guys covering 1 guy, and the goaltender facing 3 calgary players, he covered his side of the net. No reason why the defense shouldn't be the blame for that goal. The second...well...ping pong bouncy bouncy. All these people here think goaltending is easy...it's not. "Oh all he had to do was jump across the crease, contort his arm in an abnormal position to make that save! Osgood sucks!" If your offense isn't getting it done, and we lose 2-0, 1-0 it will still be the goaltenders fault. People will nick pick what he should have done to prevent that goal so we could take it into OT to get atleast a point. IMO, 1 goal was all D, that shot would have went in on any goalie. Impossible one timer to stop. The 2nd goal...well, he could have saved that, but look at it this way. If he went into the butterfly to cover the five hole, and the same play happened, the guy would have picked an other spot to shoot, and prolly still go in because the puck was everywhere. Hard to read and commit to a shot that bouncing all over the place. My guess he was waiting for the puck to settle down before commiting. Unfortunately he wasn't fast enough to make a point blank five hole shot. Flukey goal imo. Riiiight. Howard is 24th in GAA and Ozzie is 26th. Howard is 34th in SV% and Ozzie is 31st. Our goal tending sucks. True - other aspects have been bad as well, but to deny the fact we've had weak goal tending is asinine. Your hatred of Osgood is apparently overshadowing anything you might have learned by watching those 5-7 non wings games. I can only assume those non-Wings games aren't actually hockey. haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 ericsson has been making some good plays Agreed. Ericsson is going to make some mistakes and have growing pains. Because he's been in the playoffs and is older, it's easy to forget this is basically his rookie season. The Kings Doughty is a great young defenseman. Unbelievably talented, and he got absolutely schooled sometimes during his rookie season. Some things they're gonna learn the hard way.
