Greekman30 1 Report post Posted December 3, 2009 (edited) I'm New to LetsgoWings. I've been a wings fan since the late 80's. i was wondering from all the wings fans like myself. do you guys think when the wings get healthy. do they have a chance this season to make it back to the finals. i still don't think chicago is that good. wings have all most the same team as 2008 minus dallas drake, samuelson and hudler. kopecky wasn't that good. if we can get another scorer at the trade deadline i still think we're a cup contender. hossa goes to teams he thinks he'll win a cup with but he's a curse. huet is not a stanley cup type winning goalie. i hope the injury bug stops and we can be healthy for a long playoff run. nice to be on this site with you guys and gals. GO Wings. Let's get the cup back to where it belongs. In Detroit. I hate bettman. i think he set up last years finals so his lover crosby could win the cup. i think right after crosby won the cup. he and bettman got a hotel room for the night. that's my opinion. skyphoenix 153 Report post Posted December 3, 2009 I think we have a great chance to at least make the playoffs and once we get there, our team will hopefully be healthy and be able to make a push. Realistically, I don't think we can expect to get too deep into the playoffs but as a fan, we have to hope for the best. The core of the team is still there and I fully believe that they will give everything they got to get where they need to be.
zettie85 106 Report post Posted December 3, 2009 (edited) We still have a great team. Injuries have easily been our burden along with weak defencive zone play. We can turn it around. Our last game against Dallas proves we are still a class team. If Ozzie plays like Ozzie in the playoffs again I think we have a chance but it's all wishful thinking. I love Ozzie but I don't know he can play that way again. All in all when we get our team back we will be fine. Maybe not a cup but you can't win every year. Lidstrom for life 20 Report post Posted December 3, 2009 We have just as good a chance to win it this year as we did last year. I know we lost Hossa Samuelson and Hudler but those three combined for a whopping 0 goals in the 7 games of the SCF. We are still one of the elite teams in the NHL and it will just come down to who is healthy and who has the hot goalie.

If our team is healthy by playoff time: Yes, we will make a push and be a legit contender and why does the op put a period half way through every sentence? Welcome to LGW. I think we have a 70/30 chance of making the playoffs with the 70% chance being we get in. We have just as good a chance to win it this year as we did last year. I know we lost Hossa Samuelson and Hudler but those three combined for a whopping 0 goals in the 7 games of the SCF. We are still one of the elite teams in the NHL and it will just come down to who is healthy and who has the hot goalie. No we don't... Not even close... We are still one of the better teams in the NHL, and maybe once healthy become quasi elite, but as of right now we are not. I do think though we will make a couple big moves next summer once we have some cap money, and that - at least in my opinion, will be our best chance at becoming top 3 teams in the league. Welcome to LGW.com Nope, we learned that last year, the 06-07 year, the 05-06 year, etc. I don 't think anyone has ever claimed that we should win every year. We win more then anyone else, but i have never seen anything close to a claim that we should win every year. That said, there is no reasons expectations shouldn't be held higher then most other teams seeing as though we have been the best team in hockey over the last 15+ years. Do I think we should win every year? Nope. Am I going to sit here with that mindset? Not a chance. And you want to know why Detroit Red Wings fan have high expectations? Because: "Very few cities in the NHL have the history or the following of the Detroit Red Wings." -Steve Yzerman

brett 1,029 Report post Posted December 3, 2009 if you guys look alot of the teams that were having hot starts(kings coyotes avalanche) arent that far away from us anymore. theres always a chance we dont make it but i think once we get a few ppl back our chances will be good. idk what it is about the team but once theyre in the playoffs they just play alot better in the playoffs then the season. guess thats experience

Hack & Whack Rule! 160 Report post Posted December 3, 2009 I think it's 50/50 whether we. win the cup. or not. Either we do. or we don't. Okay, I know it's not that simple, but it's a tough call to make this year. Playoffs for sure, hoping for a conference championship, dreaming of the cup. dragonballgtz 273 Report post Posted December 3, 2009 Conn Smythe. That and a Hart Trophy. It boggles my mind that he never won that award and Pronger did. We have just as good a chance to win it this year as we did last year. I know we lost Hossa Samuelson and Hudler but those three combined for a whopping 0 goals in the 7 games of the SCF. Theophany 110 Report post Posted December 3, 2009 That and a Hart Trophy. It boggles my mind that he never won that award and Pronger did. He's not going to as long as Ovechkin/Crosby/etc are playing in the league and he's playing with Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and the like. Pronger won the Hart because he was pretty much all the Blues had going for them at the time; much like AO in Washington for the past two years.
puckbags 863 Report post Posted December 3, 2009 i still don't think chicago is that good. ?? Really, I think they are pretty damn good, 2 solid scoring lines, good grinders and toughness, their defence is young and solid. Their big question mark will be in goal but I think their goaltending is similar in a sense to ours. They dont need Huet to be a god in goal come playoff time, he just has to be solid. I hate the Hawks but lets be honest, they are top 5 in the league right now. As for the original topic, 100% we make the playoffs and if I said we werent gonna win the cup I wouldn`t be a die hard fan.

I think it's pretty hard for Crosby to be a Hart winner too as long as there is Malkin playing for the same team.
OsGOD 3 Report post Posted December 3, 2009 well being that you were a fan through the 80s you have to admit our chances of making the playoffs and having success are pretty damn good! The 80's were brutal
