Kopy is a -8 on a team as good as Chicago. Leino is a -8 on a (currently) worse Detroit team, as well as having twice as many points with a huge 6 over Kopy's 3.

Leino sucks, but Kopy sucks more.

They've been fairly even offensively when you account for ice time and PP time. However, Leino has been on the ice for much more ES offense that he has not been involved in, due to playing quite a bit on a scoring line. Kopecky has played the whole year as a checking center, so offense has been hard to come by.

That works both ways, though. Leino may have more opportunities to score, but he's also versing more skilled players than Kopecky is. Kopy has been up against other team's 4th liners and still has a -8.

Leino has been playing offensively comparable, perhaps better players, but with excellent defensive players.

Believe it or not I'd take kopecky back over Leino. At least he had size and did hit people when needed. Leino needs to be scratched soon. Doesn't anyone think even Filppula can't save him when he gets back? I know they that Finnish thing going between the two of them. But Leino is ridiculously bad right now.

Leino has been a total floater who doesn't create his own offense, he simply expects it to come to him. Leino has played much more per game, in an offensive role much of the time, and receives PP time. Kopecky is and was a solid defensive player who at least brought some physical element to the team, and despite the ES and PP ice time Leino gets that Kopay didn't, Kopecky was more productive offensively last year than Leino is this year.

The whole team was better and more productive offensively last year than this year.

In an interview Leino speaks about his season not going well. He says that you can see looking only at the stats that it hasn't gone as planned. I knew that he's most worried about his stats as his supposed to be an offensive player.

Leino is touted as a top 6 player. Kopecky was supposed to be a fixture on our 3rd line as a good physical presence and forechecker.

Right now, Leino isn't what he should be and is hurting the team. Kopecky's role was never as important and his failures wouldn't hurt as much.

In a quickly evolving turn of events on Friday afternoon, it appears Blackhawks forward Tomas Kopecky’s stay in the doghouse is becoming more permanent. After the morning skate on Friday, the Blackhawks recalled Bryan Bickell from Rockford and, as of 3 p.m. CST on the Blackhawks’ website, Kopecky has been replaced in the lineup by Bickell for tonight’s game against Boston .

Over the last few weeks, Kopecky’s poor play has put him on the bench on a number of occasions, with coach Joel Quenneville opting to play Jordan Hendry out of position as a forward rather than dress Kopecky. Kopecky’s minutes have fallen over the course of the season as well; he has not played more than 10 minutes in a game since the Nov. 25 blowout in San Jose, a span of seven games for Kopecky (nine for the Hawks, but two have been healthy scratches for Kopecky).

Kopecky signed a two-year, $2.4 million deal this summer with his close friend Marian Hossa. Both left Detroit for the greener pastures of Chicago’s west side, but Kopecky hasn’t found a niche in the Blackhawks' roster yet.

With salary cap concerns looming, the Blackhawks could buy out Kopecky or place him on waivers in an effort to defer some of his contract to a team that picks him up. If Kopecky clears waivers, he could then be demoted to Rockford and his salary wouldn’t have as much bearing against the cap this season for the Hawks.

Yes but Leino is currently relied upon more than he is ready for. I hope he gets a lucky goal to take some weight off his shoulders and restore some confidence.

Bottom line is, the best players need to be the best players and hardest workers and the rest of the team will follow. Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Rafalski etc. need to show on a daily basis why they get the big bucks. I think it's warranted to expect more from these guys based on what we've seen in the last few years. Someone like Leino can't win games by himself but some of these other guys can and they have to step up.

He just needs to find his scoring touch and he'll fit right in.

Who exactly overrates him? I think here in LGW he's almost underrated. Every loss is his fault and even if he just plays a normal game like the likes of Helm and Abdelkader (maybe they hit more, but they also turn the puck over) he gets all the blame.
