Nope. They're all about pretending to be injured.

come on now ,lets not invoke the "C" word here.....all teams have serious injuries from time to time.

I'm all for some dark humor, and in a lot of circumstances, I'd laugh at a joke like that, but a hockey broadcast isn't the time for something like that.

I agree.

People frequently make dark jokes about someone else dying tragically, but why is this guy doing it during a broadcast? That's not his job or why he's there.

It also apparently causes you to do strange things.

I don't care how many times I've seen that pic, I don't care how depressed I am, it always always always makes me cry with laughter

Pens announcers = idiots

who cares

Sounds about right coming from you.

From the RIP - Brittany Murphy thread....

insignificant hollywood death

oh so sad

do people become talented after they die?

i guess we can count zombie brittany murphy out of any future oscar considerations

That's a pretty classless thing for the announcers to joke about, but I don't think they should lose their jobs. That's much too extreme.

What's almost worse is that all the Penguin twats on Youtube are saying how hilarious the joke was, considering Baker passed away 90+ years ago.

Bunch of hypocrites. If someone said that about an athlete they held in high regard they'd go crazy with a typical "us against the world" mentality.

I guess it's safe now to whip out all the Roberto Clemente plane crash jokes I've been saving.

As was mentioned earlier I would laugh if Family Guy made that joke. But, they make tasteless jokes all the time, you know that going into watching an episode.

A hockey broadcast is not the time to be making those types of jokes.

Having lived in Pittsburgh for a short time last year, I can honestly say the announcing duo they have locally is the worst I've ever heard.

This instance aside, they generally come across as amateur on a regular basis.

I actually thought it was pretty funny. I really did not think people could get any more of a "my s*** doesn't stink" attitude (love the "s***sburgh" comments, yet correlating the Wings to the Detroit economy in an insult is out of bounds) when I guarantee most, if not everyone here, make jokes about dead people, or simply jokes others are likely to be offended by. There's nothing wrong with it -- that is the nature of crude humor. I don't think these guys lack respect for Baker, it was merely a joke. However, being that it came from a Pens announcer, this is certainly bound to get far more attention here than would be any other announcers.

Pittsburgh is actually a great city. I think it's more a knock on a rival than a social commentary.

I can see where you're coming from with your point, but it's also fair to say that any 'dead people' or offensive jokes any of us make are in the privacy of our homes or in between friends - not broadcast to the public on cable television. So even if you'd like to argue that those jokes are fine to make, I think we could still agree that there is a time and a place. Neither one of which is while you're commentating a professional hockey game.

Pittsburgh's announcer has one of the worst voices for calling hockey i've ever hurt. Included in his company are the commentators for Minnesota and FLorida as well.
