Rivalred 630 Report post Posted January 8, 2010 I think MLive might have a little misinformation ... Three Stars 1: Brett Lebda, Det 2: Dustin Brown, LA (1A) 3: Ryan Smyth, LA (1G) Sounds about right, Lebda's shot in practice took out Holmer...
Outsider 42 Report post Posted January 8, 2010 Watching the replay right now. Babcock is right. Howard was great, but there is no way the Kings had 51 shots on goal. This was still a much needed, and largely undeserved, Win.

Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted January 8, 2010 I think MLive might have a little misinformation ... Three Stars 1: Brett Lebda, Det 2: Dustin Brown, LA (1A) 3: Ryan Smyth, LA (1G) Actually that's the first thing that came up on the NHL.com summary when I was watching it. Once I refreshed it was the one we see now. Must've been a momentary error on the NHL website's side that the writer on the MLive site ran with. (surprising since anyone in there right mind would s*** themselves after reading Lebda as the 1st star)
Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted January 8, 2010 Good to see Leino is still putting up the numbers. Glad to see the misguided hatred directed at undrafted free agent signings making less than a million a year.
Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted January 8, 2010 Rafs was offered at least a million more per season by other teams. I can't remember exactly how much, but we absolutely got a sizable discount on him as well compared to market value and the year we signed him. Yeah but all he gave them in return was 1 Cup and 1 SCF Game 7 trip in his first 2 years. We demand that every single year of his contract results in a Cup. *Rabble* *Rabble*

titanium2 867 Report post Posted January 8, 2010 Pavel Datsyuk, EVEN, 3 shots, 4:00 PM, 3FW-7FL, 18:26 TOI, 1 TK. 4 penalty minutes and eesh, bad faceoff night for him. But he probably helped Z along in his first game back.
Guest mindfly Report post Posted January 8, 2010 Ouch, unpleasant game to watch, kings got 50shots... howard was swimming all over the ice... just can't believe how they maanged to win... helms goal was very lucky and quick made a mistake... happy for 2pts no doubt, but everyone know they can't play like this...maybe it will come back to haunt the wings, they also didn't deserve the 3-1 win against vancouver and we all know what happend the games after that........ You can praise howard all you want but its the Dmen and forwards down low who helps him in every situation with his huge rebounds and poor stick work.. just saying
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted January 8, 2010 I've said this many times. Watch a lot of other teams and their star players and you will see that ours are not dominating games like others are. No, YOU need to watch a lot of other teams. No star player dominates every game. Datsyuk can take over games and dominate them, he just hasn't done it a lot this season (only like 2 or 3 games that I can think of). Did you not watch him last season? He was one of the leagues most dominating players. And if you had watched a lot of other teams you would know that most other superstars don't play nearly as well defensively, on the PK or on faceoffs like Datsyuk does. Zetterberg doesn't have the same ability to take over games, but he's consistantly hard-working and useful. Malkin? One of the more inconsistant superstars. Unbelievably one game, invisible the next. And that's even when he's having a good season, this year he's invisible more than he's unbelievable. Ovechkin and Crosby? Okay, two of the most consistantly dominating players in the league today. But even they have games where they get nothing done. Nash? He's a little bit overrated. Good player but seems to be a bit streaky and he's awful on the defensive side. Parise? Great player. Reminds me of a more speedy Zetterberg, with a little bit more a scoring touch as well. I don't think he dominates games in the same way Ovie, Crosby, Malkin and Datsyuk does when they're on their game, but he's always good.

This guy is incredible and is doing it without all the regulars in the lineup. With Howard playing like this, once we get back to 100%, things are looking really good for the playoffs. I would much rather watch them get out shot and win, than out shoot the other team and lose and God knows we've seen that enough times.

We demand that every single year of his contract results in a Cup. *Rabble* *Rabble* I understand what you're saying about Rafalski. That some of us over-react about his play. So I thought about my own reactions and I've decided I really wasn't looking to zero in on him or anybody else concerning iffy play, because I know in my heart it's a team game. But jeeezusss, how many times does he have to shoot the puck into an opponent's feets; or give the damn thing away before he learns to take one more millisecond to scope out the area? It's almost always the same type of mistake that he makes. Over and over and over and... ...AAAACK....! .....EEEEEK!.... Peace out.

Funny you don't mention Gaborik, Sedin, Thornton, Heatley, hell, even Patrick Kane has looked better than the Red Wing boys on most nights. They are always a threat to score. And no, not every star dominates every game. But they sure as hell are a bigger threat. I can tell you have a man-love for Dats, and that's OK, my point is to be considered in the Top 5 in the league, he needs to play like that more often. Not "last year". This is THIS year. And especially when the rest of the team is falling down around him, the true greats still get it done. I love Dats as much as the next Wing fan, but I want to see more. Doc Holliday 1,888 Report post Posted January 8, 2010 http://lakingsnews.com/ For those that cheer the feathered hub cap, the above is not a typo. Your team didn’t win anything tonight. You were handed two undeserved points. Henceforth, your team shall hereinafter be referred to as NTP (“no talent pussiesâ€).
AtomicPunk 296 Report post Posted January 8, 2010 Theyre just bent because I think we are now 13-1 or something ridiculous against them. If we were handed two points, it was by their goaltender. Thanks Mr. Quick. See ya!
Rivalred 630 Report post Posted January 8, 2010 http://lakingsnews.com/ Kings dominated the game, that is for sure. If you click the link and read what is posted, the writer mentions that the King's are just getting healthy.... Interesting, considering the Wings have been injury free. Johnny Law 15 Report post Posted January 8, 2010 You can praise howard all you want but its the Dmen and forwards down low who helps him in every situation with his huge rebounds and poor stick work.. just saying It really is amazing in terms of the way they are playing defense right now, anytime things break down they all fall back into the net. I can think of at least 6 times this season where skaters have literally pulled one out of the net though I don't think any of this takes away from what Howard has accomplished so far this season. Kudos to Babcock for figuring out this is basically the only way they are winning games right now. Helm is the kinda player you love to watch...now if he only developed a little touch around the net. Miller Brew 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2010 Late to the party but I thought Jimmy was awesome, and Janik looked really good too! esteef P.S. Leino sucks! Janik was our best defencemen not named Lidstrom, Rafalski, or Stuart. Meech and Lebda were brutal. Whenever they got the puck they looked like they didn't know what to do with it, so they would just pass it to a Kings player so Howard could make the save. Stuart passed the puck to Meech and Meech skated in circles and then tried to pass it out of the zone (all the forwards were waiting for the pass at the red line); Meech tried passing it and a Kings player picked it off for a break away. That created one of the best chances for the Kings with Howard flopping around like Hasek while red wings players were laying down on the ice trying to shot block... that's when Bertuzzi took the phantom hooking penalty trying to clear the puck. I cannot wait for Ericsson and Kronwall to come back. I really think this team will be 100x smoother with'em in the lineup.
